I don’t have 1/4 million mark in my collection I have few other notgeld coins in my collection at the safety box at the bank … but inflation in Germany was definitely an interesting read during and right after WW1 going through Weimar Republic years and depression years leading up to WW2 and rise of Hitler and Nazi idealism and holocaust , POW camps and so on …. Minor coinage has a lot bangs going for it during this time frame in Germany definitely keep a collector really busy trying to collect every mint and design made during that period is utterly impossible, I mean there’s so many pathways to go down to collect concentration camp coinage (holocaust coinage) , military issue coinage , POW camp coinage, notgeld coinage …

but for Notgeld coinage I recommend Robert Lamb’s book on Notgeld , I also have Walter Funck’s catalog as well I have both in my numismatic book/catalog collection entirely devoted to Notgeld coinage … there’s also Peter Munzel’s catalog on notgeld  coinage (I believe it’s 3 volume catalog , which I don’t own) …. but I find Roberts Lamb to be more better catalog for notgeld coinage compared to Funck’s catalog

I am compiling a set that encompasses coins that were used or present in the colonies from any county prior to the American Revolutionary War of 1776. This includes coins from France, G. Britain, Germany, Spain as well as many others.

Germany Mainz 1694 , 12 Kreuzer … I believe it’s oldest coin I have in my collection for a 329 year old coin it looks in real great shape

however I’m not to familiar with this reverse design on back of this particular Thaler it almost looks like old Frankfurt German Thaler (taler) design (I believe Frankfurt only used 1 headed eagle not to sure I’ve seen double headed split eagle made by Frankfurt maybe a shooting medal)  …I guess it was a pretty coming design back then in some parts of Europe with the Eagle crest , Russians adopted the same almost looking eagle crest design as well years and years later I never found much information as to why they adopted that type of eagle crest design your’s far by the oldest dated Thaler I’ve seen it used on so far

Waiting on this bad boy to come from Germany ! I should have it sometime this week hopefully it just went through customs on its way …

time for little history lesson ! It’s pretty cool medal WW1 Germany highly decorated field marshal named Eichhorn he’s mostly noticeable for his swift command and capture of the Russian Fortress of Kovno… it earned him highest title at time for field Marshal “Pour le Merite” they say he was killed in action (KIA) but as I read deeper on him I found out he was more likely assassinated by a Russian rebel or protester at time ….
 

On reverse of the coin it reads “Hit the enemy in his heart!” I’m assuming this medal was made right around time Germany declared war on Russia although they went after France first 

 

**edit** 8/22/23 the medal finally came in mail from germany edited a few up-close pictures of the medal so far it’s only one I’ve seen I haven’t seen another one yet

1727CA JJ Spain Silver Real AU Details Cleaned solo none higher in Details grade. There is also one solo coin straight graded AU50.. but only these 2 ever graded. Now I have 1 of 2. I am arranging the purchase of the straight graded coin next week. This is an extremely rare coin in any grade.  Straight graded or cleaned in AU its almost unheard of. Unbelievable condition for being just under 300 years old. I'm excited to add this to my World Colonial Era type set.

Recently acquired this Germany 1922 Mannheim Medal, commemorating the Central Association of German Shoemakers Guilds.
Struck in Copper-Nickel with a weight of 48.70 g and diameter of 50.30 mm. The griffin is menacing along with some great heraldic imagery. If anyone has a similar example, please share!

50 Qirsh / Piastres (large type; non-magnetic) - Egypt – Numista

According to Numista, it is the bust of Cleopatra facing left. The bust is actually the reverse of the coin.
