That's a nice one jtryka!! When I first started collecting as an adult in 1999, I was living out in California and I saw quite a few Mexican coins at the coin shop I frequented whenever my limited budget would allow.  Your coin brought back some nice memories for me.  Thank you for sharing it.

Just got this Celtic imitation of Alexander the Great coinage. This one will never leave my collection.

And it never should, Andrew.  That one would be a permanent fixture in mine as well!! It's a beaut!

Three observations...

1.  WHY?

2.  THE PHOTOGRAPHY IS SUPERB, AS ALWAYS.

3. DO THE ROMAN NUMERALS, XII THAT APPEAR  (ON ONE SIDE I REGARD AS THE OBVERSE, BEAR 🐻  ANY RELATION TO THE NUMBER 12 (ON THE OTHER?

MISC COMMENT:  THIS IS THE FIRST COIN I HAVE EVER SEEN THAT BEARS 🐻  🐻 TWO DISTINCT COLONS. BE THAT AS IT MAY VERY WELL BE, I AM PREPARED TO OFFER YOU NOT A SINGLE CENT OVER $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000  [sextillion dollars] for it.   😉

The answer to the why is I love the cool design on this super early piece.

Yes it does.  It represents 12 Marion Gros: Gloria might have a stake in the claim too not at all sure about her.

That’s Fred on the other side.

Broke down and bought my first world coin. I really like the design and toning on this coin.  I had to have it when i saw it.

Taking a break from the GW's HH? Once the world coin bug bites you there's no going back. lol

World coins are a nice break from U.S. coins, I'll often bounce back and forth between the two. I'm on a 3-4 year break from U.S. coins now, lol went to world coins then world banknotes now slowly going from banknotes back to world coins and then I'll probably get back to my U.S. collections by 2023. It's a fun ride and keeps things moving and interesting.

That coin is a beauty! :golfclap: Any reason for picking it up, other than it's an awesome coin?

Thank you my friend. Ive been looking at world coins for a long time. I was looking at a few and that one caught my eye. I liked the antique look it had from the toning. I always liked German coins also. I always thought when i started on world coins Id start with Germany. It was also within my budget.

They have some very cool designs. I really like them alot. Im maybe thinking about trying to piece together a set of some kind. I really like the half marks. Im still undecided how im gonna go still yet. Be a little while down the road. Gonna focus on the US set Im working on for a while.

Some of the mid years 1912,1913 are scarce come with higher price tag for higher grades even lower grade is a little pricey , then we have 1908F which is very scarce in that series any grade is high price tag for 1908F 1/2 mark probably the hardest one to get for that series. Although the Earlier years and later years are much easier to find.
