I recevied these last weekend, though some might argue these are fantasy pieces since there were never any 50-cent coins struck for ciculation that were 40-mm and silver plated, nor were there ever any $10 1/2-ounce silver coins struck for cilculation, but these were struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, I am so confused, maybe I should run out on the street and ask John Q. Public for help...

The RCM throw out so many coins now, that it is almost impossible to keep up.

But anything with the Titanic on it has to be cool!!

Welcome to the forum, John. I share your passion for 8 Reales and primarily focus on Mexico Mint from 1772 to the War of Independence and various provisional mints that appeared in Mexico during the War. Check out my signature set for some toned beauties :)

If you ever have any questions or want to talk about the "pieces of eight" - drop me a PM on the forums.

Here's a teaser:

My photography is getting better too, but I still have a LOT to learn (like dusting before I shoot lol )!

Cyber, nice horse!

Thanks, BRG :D

Traveller was a magnificant horse, and he even has his own Wiki page. link This coin is probably one a few minted where you actually know the horse's name.

Indeed ... puts the 1943 Canadian Geo VI 10 Cent (just a freebie in VF condition) that I got recently to shame! Good pick, nunga0. :)

Pictures of mine aren't going to be posted on here (to protect your eyes!) but the date was hammered! :o

Picked this one up for next to nothing. I thought the die crack through the "U" was interesting, as you usually don't find that kind of problem on proof coins.

Here is a new jeton I got in the mail today. I photographed it using both direct and axial lighting so you can see the colors! :) I also show a close up of the 3 horses on the reverse!

Added two more Mexican Coins to my collection: I added some modern Libertad bullion sets that are limited to 1,000 sets...I love the rarity of modern Mexican bullion.
