Bianchi did nice work for Pius IX! This example was produced in Anno XIX (1864).

Looks better in hand more PL than MS in the field area. In older NCG MS-64 holder. If I ever get good at taking pics I will try to re post to show.

Two Pius IX medals with the cathedral interiors of St. Paul's and St. Peter's in Rome. By I. Bianchi during the 1860's.

The high relief of Pius IX's bust on the each medal's obverse allows the depth of engraving for the cathedral interiors.

Picked up this Klippe restrike recently. Hungary issued I believe 4 of these around 1965 -- two with very nice images of horses. :)

I don't collect gold, but if I ever started that Chaplain design would be one of the first I added to my collection. Every time I see an example my heart skips a beat. Just a phenomenal design. (thumbs u

Great pictures Joe!

If you compare it to my 65, you really cannot distinguish the difference between 64 and 65, at least I can't..

An interesting little Canadian token. As best I can tell, this "ferry token" was never actually used as such. The first mention of this token numismatically that I can hunt down was in The Canadian Antiquarian and Numismatic Journal in 1877. At one time it was thought to be quite scarce, but upon the discovery of a hoard sometime in the late 1890s, is now considered more available, with most pieces in AU or MS condition. I found the presentation of a "steamboat" with sails to be quite curious, but I am by no means a sea navigation expert.

Date of production circa 1850-1875.

Interesting token there Brandon! Here is a papal medal commemorating the 1900 opening of the "holy door." The "Holy Door" is the Northern most entrance at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. It is cemented shut and only opened every 25 years for Jubilee Years.
