My latest winnings (from my filthy pusher):

Dav-2432 (the insert is wrong):

17298197.jpg

And this is supposed to be a PL cameo specimen (at least on the obverse):

I don't have either coin in hand yet, but I'll just pull a Tonya Harding to his Nancy Kerrigan if I don't like them... :applause:

Three events greatly influenced the course of human history – the creation of a faith centered on One God, the emergence from the Dark Ages into a renaissance of enlightenment in the 16th century, and the religious wars in which almost half the population of Europe died 100 years later. These shared a common denominator: that God attended the constant appeals for protection and solace, in their lives, by royalty and citizens of the time.

The appreciation of this faith was the use of the Name of God, in Hebrew, considered the language of God, on coins and medals of the middle ages.

This is my first of this type. Some doubling on the lettering and the obverse, yet still maintains the uniqueness of this piece in my view. Only 700 minted (Thanks Brent!)

Obverse: Bride and groom joined hands. Dove under Jehovah in Hebrew Letters with rays descending on wedding couple.

Reverse: Twelve line inscription detailing the marriage of his son Bernhard and Maria Hedwig of Hesse-Darmstadt.

What a wonderful piece of history. Curious, too, in that it is missing inscription in Latin. I see the tetragrammaton, and I see early Modern German. Unlike most other European coinage from that period, I see nothing in Latin.

I wonder why. I thought that even the states of the German League considered themselves a part of the Holy Roman Empire.

Generally pleased with this batch of low mintage 19th material. Somewhat dissapointed with the St. Gallen which has some cleaning.

You must have the best collection of Swiss shooting medals in the world!!!!

That honor still goes to Rod Moore (Senior and Junior) but Zohar is rapidly accumulating a world class collection of Schutzenfest medals.

He does need some gold though, like this...

Same medal in silver...
