Popular Post Sandon
I just bought this NGC graded MS 65 1935-D quarter from a Stacks Bowers internet auction for a surprisingly low bid, which is quite unusual these days. I could tell from the lot photos, which follow, that the coin had some unusual toning, though it looked somewhat drab: The coin is actually quite colorful, with much underlying luster, as shown somewhat better by the following photos taken with a digital microscope: A picture may be worth a thousand words, but different pictures tell different tales. As I read and looked at the first pictures I thought “That color probably looks much better in hand and at better angles.” I can see I was right. Luster under color is always nice to see. Beautiful piece. Edited February 25, 2023 by Lem E Sp Mr.Bill347, Hoghead515 and Sandon 2

Popular Post 80s Kid
The previous "No S" coins were from the ANA Show. I rarely come across these coins except the occasional online lot for insane prices. I was at a show a couple months ago and someone had a 1990 "No S" packaged with the rest of the 1990 Proof Set with no grade and wanted $9k. That's a steep price even for this and if I'm paying that kind of $, I'm going to want it graded. Here's the 1983 "No S" Dime that got me interested. I have no idea what the discoloration is on the left obverse but it was already like that when I bought it. It's weird but ultimately eye appeal is a little less important to me for coins like this because they're so hard to find at reasonable prices. Popular Post Just Bob
I picked up this quarter eagle for my oldest grandson's 18th birthday. He was an avid collector when he was younger, even joining the coin club in the city where he lives. Then he discovered girls and high school basketball, and his coins were put by the wayside. He even sold a bunch of his Morgans to fund his new interests. He has always wanted a gold coin, though, so I decided years ago that I would get him a nice one when he turned 18. I started to get him one from 2005, his birth year, but I decided to go one better and get him one from one hundred years earlier. Thank you to Mark Feld of Heritage for his assistance in securing this coin. Hoghead515, Coinbuf, rrantique and 10 others
