  1. My first coin I got to add since Christmas. NGC MS62 FBL It really looks nice for an MS62. Gonna try to put a low grade set of these together.
  2. I also agree. Not big on rainbows. Im a blast white and lightly natural toning.
  3. Same here. Its hard for me to go somewhere where I can buy a coin in hand due to my location. Im pretty much stuck buying online.
  4. I got better at grading those GWs. I look at quite a few of them. What prize do I win @Lem E? Thats a true beauty my opinion. I really fell in love with it guessing the grade. Nice addition brother.
  5. That was my thinking also. Couldnt really tell by the pics but when I looked closely it looked like toned streaks where it wasnt annealed properly or something. Didnt look like abrasion or scratches.
  6. Your very welcome. Everyone like to try and help everyone on here. I cant stand to see people get taken advantage of. Theres a whole lot of people out there ready to do people wrong just to make a quick buck. Hate to see a new collector get discouraged from the hobby when one of these tricksters takes advantage of them. If you ever go to make a purchase and your not sure of anything just share pics and some information about it and everyone on here will be more than happy to help you out. Theres many coins thats been cleaned, whizzed, tooled, acid treated, corroded, plated, etc. Those are the ones I was refering to as problem coins. If you look on Ebay and places at graded coins and the plastic holder says DETAILS on it then it means its a problem coin. Most people try to avoid them unless its a very rare coin or something. Some have been cleaned many years ago and very hard to tell about. This site has some of the best experts in the world at spotting problem coins. And they are more than happy to help people out that are not sure of a purchase.
  7. Be nice to have larger clearer pictures. Are they scratches? Cant really tell by the photos but Im leaning towards PMD.
  8. Thank you. That makes perfect sense due to the large diameter. I couldnt find anything on a uniform that big. It looks like its been in the ground for a very long time and the back of it has corroded away.
  9. I agree with Kurt on that one. Its hard telling how many people get scammed everyday not knowing it. And they get away with it. Very sad and wish more could be done but we try to educate people on here to try to keep from being scammed. Thats why everyone is saying to educate yourself before making a purchace. Its the only defence we have aginst counterfeits, price gougers, and other problem coins for now. Also gotta watch because counterfeits are being sold around every corner. Its aginst Ebays rules to post counterfeits but people still do. They cant keep up with what every seller puts on there. Usually if people spot them and report them they will take them down. A few of us on here report them when we spot them. They counterfeit about every type of coin but be wary of key dates and rare coins. Just from my experience, dont know from others, seems like I mostly see Morgan Dollars. Not saying they are the most counterfeited, they may be, but its mostly what I encounter. Those and draped bust dollars. But theres several others I dont usually look at and thats probably why. Im just focusing my interest in certain types of coins for now. I will probably encounter several other types when I start expanding into other areas. Also beware of people selling Doubled Die coins raw. Ive seen several selling strike doubling coins as true ddo coins for a hefty premium. If you get into buying errors then you better really study the differance in dd and md. Md is worthless doubling and we see it on here almost everyday. Not knowing no better its hard to tell the difference until you educate yourself well in that area. Good luck and hope this helps.
  10. Very impressive collection. I have some numismatic scrapbook magizenes a very good friend gave me. I really enjoy reading the very interesting articles in them. I have RWBs book FMTM and a couple JNR issues he gave me thats very interesting. Got Mr Langes book thats very interesting. Got an older Don Taxay book Ive only read part of. Not sure how accurate it is but its still interesting. Also got a couple books from the 1800s. Havent read through them. Afraid to mess them up. Feel like they could be brittle. Mainly bought them for the collection. But thats all Ive got in my book collection so far. Cant wait to grow it and read and learn from the future additions I plan to add.
  11. Shes still a beauty. I really really like her. Alot!!!!!!!!
  12. Maybe even 67. That obverse is sweet. Those are the ones I try to find. Or blast white.
  13. I think its a beauty. I like coins with light toning like that. Looks antique looking. Im gonna guess ms66+ judging by ones ive looked at and own just by the pics.
  14. Another place to stay away from is YouTube videos. Some are ok but most spread the most redicilous information there ever was. Some people get on there and make very untrue videos that have people that dont know any better believing their crazy claims. Good luck.
  15. Ill keep a watch for one. Be pretty neat to own one of each.
  16. Thank you Kurt. Ill be remembering that now.
  17. You are very welcome my friend. You can shop around on Ebay and find some great deals. Just watch what sellers you deal with. Some are way over priced. I always read their feedback also. Good luck and happy collecting.
  18. Thats not it. Thats just strike doubling on the one in the original post. It was struck with an extremely worn die giving it that effect.
  19. Ii learned something new today. I never knew that info about the U on those. Ive not done much research on ASEs. Thanks for sharing that my friend.
  20. I agree. Those are heavily circulated. You can buy one in mint shape already graded around $20 or so if you shop around. It would cost you close to $100 to get one graded shipping, insurance and all. Those are no where near good enough shape to justify grading.
  21. Im with Kurt. If I had to choose it would be the 3 cent.
  22. Seems like the one I have with fbl has better detail. Seems like a better strike than the others. Thats just with mine. Ive only got a handful. Put it up aginst several more then Im not sure if it does or not. But its a really good strike and a beautiful coin. May have been an early strike. Those are some beauties Mr. Bill. Ilove those Franklins. Wish that series coulda went a few more years.
