  1. You have a very impressive collection. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed looking at them. I agree with Just Bob on the Caque. I love the high relief and the antique looking finish. Its a very clean looking medal also. Inspires me to want to look more into metals. I really like Franklin but Im really into George Washington also. Im working on a full set of silver business strike quarters. Im over half way of completing my goal. Would also like to expand into GW medals also. Ive got the 1982 GW 50 cent medal so far but id like to look into others also.
  2. Someone may have cleaned them before your family owned them. Years ago cleaning them wasnt frowned upon like it is today.
  3. If it straight grades id guess AU55. Im by far not a professional though. Just want to point that out. Its got some wear on the high spots. It looks like it may have had a cleaning at one time. Not saying it did. Just looks like it to me. If it has been cleaned it will get a details grade. I really like the pink toning though. There will be more knowledgable people come along shortly. But if it were mine I wouldnt have it graded. I would put it in a flip. I really dont think it will grade high enough to justify the cost of having it done.
  4. Im a very big admirer of Franklin. The only thing I have in Franklin is a few halves. Its only because I havent made it that far in my collecting goals. Im working on Washingtons and Roosies right now. But I will grab something else once in a while to if it comes along. Id love to get a full set of Franklins but they are very pricey. May put together a low grade of business strikes. Or part of one anyways. I only have one proof. The rest are business strikes. I really enjoy this one here but its got alot of haze on it. But theres still not many I dont like. Of course Id love to have some flawless coins but my budget wont allow it. I really still enjoy coins like the one below anyways.
  5. Had an uncle that was in the air force in Vietnam. He wont talk about it a whole lot but he said hes seen some bad stuff over there and quite a bit of combat. I seen this picture of him while I was looking for the one of my dad and figured Id share it since we was on the subject of flying.
  6. Sure sorry to hear that about your father. He sounds like he was an amazing person. Lived a good long life. I lost my dad in 2019. Its sure tough losing a father. I think about him bout everyday. He was just 60 years old. Diabetes took him out. He gave half his feet on both sides but he wouldnt give his legs up and lost his battle with it. Died the next morning after his birthday. Heres a picture of him right before he started getting real bad. Hed done lost a few toes when this picture was taken.
  7. Thats awsome. I bet its a great feeling to get behind the controls. Would love to have that experience.
  8. Thank you. Ive always wondered that.
  9. Are you a pilot @Coinbuf. Thats pretty awsome. The owner of the company I work for has a very small plane and helicoptor. Ive never rode in a helicoptor before. He said he would take me a ride sometime. He flew us out popcicles back in the summer one very hot day. Aint to many companies do that. Its pretty cool that you get to fly.
  10. Thats Very beautiful. Back in 2000 I worked in NYC and they flew us up there. I remember one flight we took we could look down at the clouds. I remember being freaked out anyways. Once we got to the clouds I was thinking, "Aint this high enough." And kept going way up above the clouds. I was tore up like a can of worms. The other planes I flew on didnt go as high as that one did. Do they fly at different altitudes to keep from hitting other planes? Thats what I was thinking it may have been.
  11. Crazy how the weather is so different. Is the mountain range the cause of it. I was always facinated with those sorts of things.
  12. Very impressive. Ive never encountered one of those before. But those little dust devils were pretty cool for someone like me who never encountered them. We seen like 7 or 8 at one time. They were everywhere.
  13. Yes sir. I traveled thru Arizona back in 2001. Only time I ever been in Arizona. My dad and I. In a Chevy s10. Went to California working. Went past Vegas on way out. Went to Sacramento and San Fransisco. Then last job was in LA. We came thru the desert home. Got out there and s10 broke down at a gas station. Fuel pump goin out. Dad beat on the tank with a hammer for 10 minutes. Finally got it fired back up. We was afraid to shut it back off. Also had a bad oil leak. Every 3rd fillup of gas we would pour a quart of oil in it. Finally made it home and shut it off and it neverhit another lick again. Had to put new pump in it. That was a miserabe trip all cramped up in that truck. Very beautiful country we saw out there and back. I enjoyed the sights we saw through Arizona. Seen several those little small dust tornadoes or whatever they are. Cant remember the road we took but we went several miles with no traffic or gas stations.
  14. Lol. I agree. Hes a really good feller. Hes been super great to me and im honored to have him as a friend. Honored to have all you all as friends. Well most actually.
  15. What region of the world are you from @CoinbufIts very cool to meet so many great friends from all over the U.S.
  16. That was very cool of you. Your a great person. That has inspired me to do something as well. Not only will it inspire a kid it also inspires us older people to be more giving.
  17. Maybe it will make him grow up a little.
  18. I feel really bad. I had to get a little mean with him and im not that kind of person. Ive not got a mean bone in my body. Dont like doing that. His own mom is trying to get my niece to divorce him. Thats pretty bad when your mom chooses the other over her own son. Said she pay for the divorce and help her out with the baby. Anything she needs. Anyways ill get back on subject. Instead of rambling on. I guess im just in a bad mood. Got down here at a motel and everyone ran off to get food and left me here. I just walked a couple miles in the rain to a Wendys. Kinda got me aggravated. Im gonna drive my own vechicle next time we work down here. I got stuck with a different crew for a few days. My crew I usually work with wont do you that way. I guess you all dont want to hear my crying around and slingin snot. But thank you all for the info on that deal. Looks like someone dug it up. Its pretty heavy. And pretty thick.
  19. We got them worked out. My niece came around for help. She said hes scared to death of me for some reason. I dont know why. Ive never done a thing to him before. Never harmed noone in my whole life. But he left out pretty easily when I had a little talking to with him . My niece is very glad to see him leave.
  20. I enjoy those proof die cracks the most. They supposed to be held at a higher standard.
  21. Some people probably dont care about the true grade if they can get a higher one. They would be happy to have an xf grade an au to make it more valuable. Just my opinion. As to where some would rather have it labeled for what it really is. I would rather have an honest grade. Of course I dont sell my coins anyways so Im not worried a whole lot about the value. To me they are priceless. I love my collection. Id rather have them labeled for what they really are.
