  1. Been waiting for the chance to see some of these.
  2. Welcome back Quintus. Glad to see you back. Been wondering how u been.
  3. Im gonna have to rest on it also my friend. Just pulled a 18 hr day. Just got home bout an hr ago. Gotta get back up in 3 hrs and hit it again. Maybe if I can keep getting hrs like these that set of Franklins will come together a little quicker. Or that set of quarters I been working on so long. Ill be happy with which ever I can find a nice example of first.
  4. Your sure racking them up. You will have that set finished soon at that rate. Congrats on the purchase my friend. Great buys.
  5. Very nice Mr Bill. Thats a sharp Franklin. Im also working on putting a set of these together. Ive still got a long way to go.
  6. Like GBrad said cant tell anything without pics. Could be cleaned or anything. Even if it is BU the condition still has alot to do with the price. A mint state 66 coin is worth more than a mint state 62 of the same coin even though they are both uncirculated.
  7. May be able to shop around and find them cheaper. Just a quick google search. Just looked and a 5 coin proof set holder is under $6.
  8. Yea its the bigger ones. I seen the singles are alot cheaper. Heres a screen shot of the ones I was looking at.
  9. I just looked up those type coin holders. Those are very neat but your right about them being expensive. I seen some around $80 to $90 a piece. Very beautiful though. Bet they look good filled with some lusterous coins.
  10. Sounds like the name hyped it up where people would start charging a fortune.
  11. Whats the title of his book called? Would love to read it sometime. I enjoy reading his responses on the forum.
  12. Thats why I usually buy cetified coins. Unless its a reputable dealer or Im 100% sure its real. When I first started I was sold some cleaned coins. Now Ive learned alot more of what to look for. Im still not the greatest at spotting fakes and cleaned coins so I mostly buy them already certified.
  13. I caught 2 little catfish but they were only about 8 inches long. I ended up having to bait the old ladys hook. She ended up catching the biggest ones. Hope you caught that turtle my friend.
  14. Very interesting. I never knew they done that. Thanks for sharing.
  15. My pictures are horrible but they may show enough to see what I mean. The scratches on the obverse are on the holder. The coin actually looks pretty good in hand. Looks like someones kid had hold of it after it was slabbed. Or they just tossed it in a drawer or something and scuffed it all to pieces. Is there anything you can do for a scuffed up holder? Other than reholder it? Looks like the tailfeathers are bout gone. You can still see them coin in hand but they are weak.
  16. Errorist would probably have a fit if he seen all the junk Ive thrown in the coin jug. I quit saving die cracks unless they go completely across the coin. Small cracks, gouges, scratches, die polishes, chips, and other common garbage like that gets tossed in the coin jug and rolled up around Christmas time. I see them quite often. I quickly examine all my change before I toss it in the goody jar. I have saved a few more significant ones and put them in flips and tossed in the (may look at again one of theses days) basket. I dont hype them up and Ive certainly not named them. The ones I find like the one in the OP get tossed in the Christmas jug.
  17. I got a 1940 proof. Its graded pf65 by NGC. Its also got a CAC sticker on it. I noticed the tail feathers and motto are weak on it also. Its the only proof I have so far of the early Washingtons. After Im done with business strikes Im gonna eventually start on proofs. But anyways I see that early proofs were also affected. I still like his design. I like it way better than the one that came out this year.
  18. They should have filled up first then shouldnt they? Was it due to the relief of the engraving itself? Mr Langes response actually answered that question. When he said they fixed that problem in 1965.
  19. What I was saying is USMC Ray gave it to me as a gift. He was a member on here. Havent seen him on here for a long time. He was a good friend. He gave me and my boys all one a piece and a p-52 each, I think it is, also. I keep mine on my truck key chain. The one in that picture is my youngest sons.
  20. I would love to but I cant afford it and cant get away from my job long enough. Hopfully one of these days if retirement is still a thing when my time comes, I plan on going to several. Right now I pretty much live from paycheck to paycheck. Have to save up for a month just to buy a coin. Id have to save up for a couple years to afford to go to a show. Going to a show is pretty much just a dream for me right now like winning the lottery.
  21. Ive wondered if the mint isnt in with the major tpgs with these low mintage bullion coins. Giving people a reason to have them graded. May not be but it makes me think about it. Wouldnt suprise me either.
