Alex in PA. reacted to gmarguli in Lincoln values when discontinued next year-please give me your 2 cents
There have been two extremely stupid reasons for not eliminating the cent.
1) The zinc producers bribe make donations to members of Congress.
2) It is racist as it will hurt the poor the most if stores go to rounding. Even though this has been disproven by multiple studies, some insufficiently_thoughtful_persons in Congress still push this garbage.

Im crossing my fingers they last till I get paid tomorrow. Ive not got any type 2s yet. Id really love one of those. Got my check stub. This pay check was a little better than my last when I checked my stub while ago. Everything is getting so expensive anymore. I gotta figure out how to eat on $7 today without over drawing my bank account. Our work slowed down big time this spring. I guess next week we finally get opened up again. Theyre saying 6 days a week for the next few months.

Nearly a 42% markup for a coin that you can still buy, as of 7AM today, direct from the mint. I've seen worse. At least everyone that wanted to buy direct from the Mint was able to do so this time.

So were they lying when they said only 160K for the product availability? i was able to get my limit ..........I certainaly am not going to buy one of those ADVANCED releases for $400 that would be the end of that!

Burnishing is a way of polishing by using a polished hard steel graver or similar tool. The US Mint does not "burnish" coins, dies, hubs, master dies, and certainly not their reputation.

Alex in PA. reacted to James at EarlyUS.com in Hello, 1st post. What vintage holder do I have here?
No offense to NGC, but these are from just about my least favorite era of NGC grading. Not only did I personally dislike the "W" or "T" thing (which I seem to remember PCI using at the time as well), but grading consistency seemed a bit more iffy at that time.

Because it's the same book. On Biblo it identifies the seller as Robertsbookshop.com.

I really wanted one pretty bad but Ive only got $30 in my bank account. Last 2 weeks at work was very slow. They been telling us for the past month its getting ready to open up wide open. Im bout ready to sell a kidney or something. Im bout fed up with this being poor and broke all the time. Done great at this job last summer. Wish it would hurry and open up. Ive missed out on some coins I really wanted.

Alex in PA. reacted to James at EarlyUS.com in For a brief moment, I thought I'd finally stumbled upon an example of the HOLY GRAIL of rainbow toned coins!
You can probably guess why it turned out NOT to be so, but it sure was close . . . .

I always thought that was wrong. Us tax payers/collectors should get the same chance as everyone.

Alex in PA. reacted to JT2 in New Burnished American Eagles
So yet again the US Mint has release a low population silver American Eagle with a production linit of 160,000. so why is it that last night i saw on the TV those hucksters already selling the "ADVANCED" releases for $400. WTF how many did these guys pick up? how many of the 160K did they already give out before the "Collectors" even had a chance to get them... Keep this up and i am pretty sure that i will not be in line for these anymore.

Making a wise decision is sometimes not too easy for some. It's been tried, and it failed. Why? I have no idea.

What do you collect ? How long have you been collecting ? Interest in other coins (i.e, Saints or Morgans) that maybe you don't yet own ?

If you had two of those, you could put in your two cents worth.
