I'm going with Mark Feld's assessment on this. I visit over ATS and, as of last night, there was ONE thread on this with 48 comments and it appears to have gone this morning.
Seems to me there are more "Kool Aid" drinkers here than ATS> What say you?

Benjamin's idea and put a turkey on our coin.
Now there is an idea worth submitting to the mint. If they do a Benjamin Franklin obverse why not use a wild turkey reverse/ Just a thought.

I can only give what I know. I deal with two nationally known coin dealers; Northeast Coin (www.northeastcoin.com) and Northern Nevada Coin (www.brokencc.com) and have found them over the years to be professional and honest dealers who treat you with courtesy and pride in their business. As for EBay once it may have once been the place to deal but now I am not sure. I can purchase a coin, the same Grade and TPG, but of better eye appeal and at least $100.00 less than EBay from Northeast Coin. Of course the choice is yours and I am certain other members of this forum have personal trustworthy recommendations. Good luck on the hunt.

I gave up on the US Mint many years ago. I took a look at their website yesterday and it appears to be orientated towards children. A sign the Mint doesn't miss my business?

I agree with Moxie15. Sorry you're disappointed but you can always get a second opinion.

I have heard many descriptions of why people collect coins and other treasures. I only know, and this is only my opinion, that I collect items for two reasons. One, for their historical value and two, for the pleasure they give me. I like looking at a MS 67 Morgan Dollar. I think that folks collect for various reasons and I hope they get as much enjoyment as I have.

My first Scotch in Scotland was alongside of a plate of authentic haggis.
Mine also. In a very nice hotel in Hamilton; birthplace of my mother & grandmother. Learned to like Haggis as a child. Asked my mom what Haggis was and she said:
"You have to chase it, running backwards, and shoot it with a shotgun."

You are "tired" ot the TPGs? Without an NGC or ATS grade you cannot get a CAC sticker. Without a CAC sticker you are just losing money.
I personally have been, in the past, against the NGC and PCGS TPGs because I was happy with ANACS & before that ANA. However, now they are a necessary evil.

Agreed. It is sad that our great hobby is riddled with crooked people who counterfeit, lie, cheat and steal. But this is not new to coin collecting. The counterfeiters have been at work, long and hard, since the first coin was hammered.
Our real problem lies in the advance of technology which is making these counterfeiters more proficient in cheating us. Every year the Chinese outfits produce a better product designed to fool us. There isn't a day goes by that I don't visit a coin forum only to see the thread 'EBay Fake - Please Report'. And we do report; day after day and year after year but still they come. From China, from Europe, from Russia there is always someone trying to get over for those 'Easy Dollars'.
We are a few but we do what we can do. And it is threads such as this one that remind us to stay alert. Many thanks to the OP for putting this up.

I fail to understand why you feel the need to inject this garbage into every thread. This is a coin forum.
Lighten up huh? If this is getting too much I suggest Coin Talk where all are polite.
