  1. DW & RW:  It seems our government has a lot of money to spend on grants.  Numismatic research should be an easy get considering this is one of dozens of grants passed out:

    Sex, drugs, and… quails

The government spent at least $518,000 in federal grants to study how cocaine affects the sexual behavior of Japanese quails. Sounds pretty outlandish, but the researchers had their reasons. They were trying to look at how cocaine abuse affected risky sexual behaviors in humans, and the sex habits of quails are easy to measure in a lab setting. If you think this is bizarre, learn about these 10 secret U.S government operations—revealed.

I suppose part of the reason I asked this question is that we, myself being somewhat new to this, are always recommended to purchase coins of any decent value that are encapsulated/graded by a service to ensure authenticity and potential value. I recently had another coin returned by NGC as "Not Authentic" and thankfully the auction house is willing to take the return due to NGCs determination. I did weigh and magnetic check prior to shipping and by appearance seemed OK but alas...chit happens.

Granted the $5 is only worth at best $245 currently but in the future 10-20-30 years it's value could/would increase, yeah inflation yada yada, and the cost of whatever a TPG may charge will increase for sure so wouldn't it be prudent to just go ahead and get the grading/slabbing done now(at cheapest service possible) and out of the way in the event that these are sold after my demise ? I can't see the selling process changing much in the future so this would help with streamlining that part of the process.
I may not do this with the $5 but the 2 $10s and $25 I most likely will...dunno hahaha.
    Thanks for looking and replies.

If protection is your main interest, and you don't want to pay a TPG fee, there are dozens of nice, professional 'Self Slabs' available from EBay to the coin supply dealers.

    Just a suggestion.  :preach:

  3. Getting a coin certified, or slabbed as we say, is an individual taste.  Some people do it to increase the coin value, others do it to protect the coin or to make it easier to catalogue.  Others do not like to slab their coins.

You coin is very interesting and hopefully the error people will come along and give you an accurate reading.  Good luck.

  4. Okay, enough of this .  NevadaS&G you have lied, deceived, made more excuses than any other member of this forum has.  Pay attention if that's possible:

    1.  What were you doing when you filled out the PCGS Submission Form?

    2.  What part of Paragraph 5 of the Submissions Guidelines didn't you comprehend?

    3.  In Section 7 COIN DETAILS under MIN GRADE what did you enter, if anything.

YOU SENT THEM AN EMAIL????  You have no business being in the coin business and I don't fully understand how you got the coins graded by NGC with your lack of understanding.

IF YOU SUBMITTED A COIN TO PCGS THEY WOULD NEVER HAD CRACKED IT OUT OF THE NGC HOLDER UNLESS YOU FAILED TO ENTER THE MIN GRADE YOU DESIRED!   COMPRENDE???
