  1. I don't know. I may have heard it somewhere and it stuck. How are things in the Land of Champions? Roll Tide!
  2. Yes there is but for the new comers I'd say: You have to learn to pick and choose. I scan the TOPICS that are listed and if anything interests me I'll open and see. The same for ATS. If I don't find anything interesting then I'm gone. If you go looking for an argument sooner or later you will find it.
  3. It appears that there is a lot of that going around. Unfortunately, those folks will not find too many 'sympathetic' ears here.
  4. Just when you think a thread is dead; it comes back to life.
  5. 3rd US Army records recorded 711 bags (size of bag unknown) of US $20.00 gold pieces.
  6. i believe there were 700 bags of US $20 gold pieces found in the Merkers mine in Germany by Patton's people. US gold along with many other bags of foreign gold looted by the NAZIs. In fact the entire German Reichsbank was hidden in mines. I believe it was 700 bags (size of bag unknown) but I would have to check my book. What I wouldn't have done for 1 bag.
  7. A long time ago I sent all my 1950s and 1960s Proof Sets to NGC for grading a encapsulation. A couple years later I checked and the individual prices far out distanced the cost of the set from the Mint.
  8. I may be wrong but the reverse of that Trade looks hinkey to me. Especially that mint mark. Just a guess mind you.
  9. This is running ATS and is very interesting. I myself can't decide but some of the folks over there say it's a definite fake. And that is scary. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1049030/this-is-the-first-counterfeit-slab-with-cac-sticker-i-have-seen#latest
  10. I agree. That's why I leave the coin pics to NGC and ATS. That and I'm also lazy and I loaned my really neat and expensive camera to my brother in law.
  11. Welcome back and sorry to hear you had problems. This Forum is pretty relaxed but there are rules to follow. I personally think we have a pretty relaxed atmosphere Good luck.
  12. I will have to research this. That preview shows some very impressive coins. I expect they all are worth more than I could afford but it's nice to window shop.
  13. Gold definitely looks better in a black background. I would do it.
  14. On thier form they 'Appearance Review' listed charge $0. This is what I meant. Sorry for my confusion.
  15. On the old format there was a box to check called 'Designation Review'. Was there a charge for that service? Thank you for your time.
  16. You are correct. I definitely remember checking that particular box when I would do a submission. If I remember correctly there was no charge for this service.
