  1. You are "tired" ot the TPGs? Without an NGC or ATS grade you cannot get a CAC sticker. Without a CAC sticker you are just losing money. I personally have been, in the past, against the NGC and PCGS TPGs because I was happy with ANACS & before that ANA. However, now they are a necessary evil.
  2. Wow! This is getting just like the good, old days before the forum became the legendary Sleepy Holly. Now remember, no breaks for anyone is the number one rule.
  3. Agreed. It is sad that our great hobby is riddled with crooked people who counterfeit, lie, cheat and steal. But this is not new to coin collecting. The counterfeiters have been at work, long and hard, since the first coin was hammered. Our real problem lies in the advance of technology which is making these counterfeiters more proficient in cheating us. Every year the Chinese outfits produce a better product designed to fool us. There isn't a day goes by that I don't visit a coin forum only to see the thread 'EBay Fake - Please Report'. And we do report; day after day and year after year but still they come. From China, from Europe, from Russia there is always someone trying to get over for those 'Easy Dollars'. We are a few but we do what we can do. And it is threads such as this one that remind us to stay alert. Many thanks to the OP for putting this up.
  4. Lighten up huh? If this is getting too much I suggest Coin Talk where all are polite.
  5. On this subject I must agree with VKurtB. In all the decades I have collected I have only seen a few people charged with crimes against the coin collecting community. Their sentences were laughable. The Fed has bigger fish to fry than the EBay crooks; that is the way it is and that is the way it will be. Besides, name one of us here that is going to go to court with a legal action over a counterfeit coin. You would have to be rich beyond words to cover the court costs. Well, just my thoughts on this. I can remember when I got stung; it wasn't a court of law I was thinking of it was Smith and Wesson.
  6. Oh, the irony of it all. I've been a member here, off and on, since 2002 ,have never been 'Banned' or issued a warning of any kind over the years. I do not know off hand how many coins I've submitted to NGC over the years but it is many. On the section Ask NGC/NCS I have only asked two important (to me) questions, The first sat for a month before I finally coaxed and answer out of who ever. I let the second sit for two days without an answer before I gave up. I posted on another forum and had my answer in less than one half hour. Now I look at the Rat Man and the attention he's getting and wonder. Perhaps it is entertainment that makes the day, eh?
  7. I don't recollect the exact date this form became the legendary 'Sleepy Hollow'. Maybe about 2006 to 2008 when the War of the Words ended and a mass migration began. Some very good folks, and my friends, left and as I checked over the years they didn't come back. As for CT being a "scam" I would tell the OP that's BS and "you might want to stop taking yourself so darn seriously." An Internet fraud (online scam) is the use of Internet services or software with Internet access to defraud victims or to otherwise take advantage of them; for example, by stealing personal information, which can even lead to identity theft.
  8. I guess I'd better pay more attention when I'm on that site.
  9. So have I and I haven't had any problems either. Also, I have had many good coin and paper money experiences while there.
  10. Yes! It is a shame the condition VA hospitals are in. That system should have been privatized decades ago.
  11. On 11 November 2020 @comicdonna said: On 26 March 2004 ******* said: "We don't need this over here. Quit making these forums a bad place to be. If you have nothing good to offer, don't come." On 26 March 2004 **** replied: "I see, so you are going to make accusations without proof. I went through this with you over there. You love the controversy and the us vs. them thing. I'm not going to play with you over here. Back up your statements or don't make them." On 26 March 2004 ******* said: "NGC has warned you a number of times about your baiting techniques *******. You don't have veto power around here and your bossy little attitude is not appreciated. You've turned the forums across the street into a bad place and seem interested in expanding your influence. Walk across the street and continue your game-playing over there." And on and on it went. Who needs a Moderator when there is such love between members.
  12. @MarkFeld said "I’ve participated here, off and on, since 2002. I don’t recall having seen any heavy handed moderation during any of that time and don’t anticipate any going forward, either. So man up and fear not.😉" And then there was 2004 and the War of the Words started ATS by none other than HRH. Those were 'the good ol' days'.
  13. Welcome and those are nice family treasures. Good for showing children the money from our past.
  14. Once while serving with the 3rd Armored in Germany I read a Playboy Magazine and in the middle there was a full page joke. It was a family sitting around the dinner table and there was this bucket with the likeness of Colonel Sanders on it. The bucket was filled with breaded and fried mice with the father dishing some out to the family. I haven't eaten there since that.
  15. $300,000.00 Dollars in pre-1880 gold coin. I get dizzy just thinking of it.
  16. Right you are! Just like the old days of March 2004 eh? Eat em up Osceola!
  17. I have been very fortunate over the years to have developed a good relationship with two nationally known dealers that I have come to trust. These are people who have decades in the business and who I feel are completely trust worthy. I have NOT bought from EBay in many years with the exception of a few miscellaneous inexpensive coins. EBay, in my opinion, has become a junk yard of low quality coins being sold at high prices. No matter how you choose to buy - good luck to you.
  18. Absolutely sure of it. The coin is doomed.
