Or am I just reading too much into this.
Folks,
I just purchased a Clad 1976S PCGS PF68 DCAM Eisenhower Dollar for my Proof Ike set. When I attempted to add him to my registry set the ADD would not save at all.
I then added the IKE to my holding via the Collection Manager then ADDED the Ike to the set by pulling it from the Collection Manager entry. Well, the Ike added on Friday morning and has been PENDING ever since. But here is the weird part, the coins PCGS registration number, 206

Howdy Friends,
I have been patiently waiting to acquire either a 1920 or 1921 Pilgrim or one of the 2007 Jamestown Commemoratives for My Heritage Custom Set and I recently acquired this MS70 example on eBay at a good price just 40 dollars. This coin celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the founding of Jamestown and through my genealogy research I have identified an ancestor Stephen Hopkins who after surviving the shipwreck of the Virginia Company ship Sea Venture on reefs off

Coin Journal for the week of 02/13/2012 through 02/19/2013This week sees several milestones for my collection, the beginning of several new registry sets, and an additional direction in my collecting habits. Overall, it has been a great week, both in collecting and my personal life. A new contract may hold a larger collecting budget in my future, so fingers crossed there! I splurged a little this week, purchasing not only bargain coins, but acquiring some h

Upstate South Carolina Coin Show
Friends,
As usual every year I make it to the local coin show to find a few beauties and add to the collection. This year will be no different but with a twist. I am going to take a couple hundred coins to sell to the dealers before the weekend gets started. I have the coins on my page and full NGC proof sets 1999 to 2009 that I am looking to liquidate to purchase other coins that I am more interested in.
If you are a dealer that will be working the cr
See how they compare with the old Low Resolution (72 DPI) images, NGC Photo-Proofs, and PCGS True-View imaging.
The bottom line is you get what you pay for. Dont expect the High Resolution (300 DPI)images to be anywhere near the quality of auction catalog photos, NGC Photo-Proofs or PCGS True View images, however they are a significant step up from pictures taken with a home scanner or the Low Resolution NGC images.
The difference in picture quality between these image sources can be readi
But the darned French beat me to it.
Folks,
Here is a link to an interesting article about a large hoard of gold coins found by French workers while renovating an old building. apparently when one of the workers took crowbar to false ceiling, the cascade of coins started.
There was speculation in the article the coins might have been placed in the rafters by the owner of a French Winery in the 1930s I am thinking it is more likely the gold coins were hidden from the Germans during WWII
Overall very satisfied!
Several top pop coins in this group, including some fairly elusive MS 68 coins. I'll be journaling some of these individually when they arrive home next week.

Sometimes Auction Catalogue pictures really to not do a coin justice.
That is certainly the case with my latest acquisition.
A always review the major auctions to see if they offer possible upgrades for my USA/Philippines Type Set.

1746 Proof Half Crown bought as a " replica "
As I was sifting through a bunch of nothing coins at a Sunday flea market the vendor told me that there was a bunch of new and neat stuff. After not getting anywhere and ready to give up I came across a 1746 proof half crown marked " imitation ". I paid the $4.00 and subsequently certified the rarity and is now in a proof - 61 holder ! Right place at the right time.

A beginner's thoughts on sifting through volumes of circulated coins.
A couple days ago I made the decision to start collecting Lincoln cents, Roosevelt dimes, Washington quarters, and various $1 coins. At the end of a surprisingly exciting first day the haul was impressive. But what was more profound were the lessons on from the task.
1. This will build your "eye" for different grades and tones.
2. Is cheap to learn.
3. Can be great fun.
Until this I played around with silver dollars
The First MS70 Libertad Gold ever graded!!
This is one of the most beautiful gold coins out there. The best part is that it is graded MS 70. From all the business strikes Libertad that have been submitted for grading this is the first MS70. A great addition to my collection!
Enjoy,
David

The coin and CD with High Resolution (300 DPI) images is still on its way back from NGC so I cant post a decent picture at this time. The images on the NGC Certification Verification web site are terrible and do not do the coin justice. Hopefully the High Resolution images will be better. I will post the
With counterfeit coins flowing into the collector market, learn how to easily spot one manufacturers replica coins.
The numismatic hobby is facing perhaps it's most threatening challenge, that of replica coins from China and other overseas locals. Low cost, and in some cases, surprisingly good quality reproductions are flooding America via a number of portals, most notably eBay.
Such auctions provide a low cost outlet for the unscrupulous to market their wares. This brief study will exami
