  1. That reminds me of the antique coin store lady. I bought three proof sets on a Saturday morning. I picked up a 79,80 and a 81 when I got home I looked at the 81 with my USB scope and found it was a type 2. So I wend back in the afternoon a picked up the last 1979 type 2 and the last 5 1981 Type 2 she had . She looked at me with a puzzled look and said you got the coin bug bad. I laughed and said at $5 a piece they will make great Christmas gifts.
  2. Sorry OM ,Yes I did see the doubling I like it I think it is cool. I would grade it VF but it may get a details grade with the marks and corrosion.
  3. In 1994 they made the SP Nickel then in 2005 - 2010 they made the SMS Nickels. I am not sure why they called them SMS to me those were the 65.66.and 67 years.
  4. The lower leaf is quit worn it may have been close at one time.
  5. I also started saving the Bicentennials in 76 thinking they may be worth something some day. (WRONG) I still like them I had a some coffee cans full but I thinned them out a few years back. If it is not a 66 or higher it is just a quarter to spend.
  6. Welcome back Condor101 it is always nice to hear you thoughts on a post.
  7. Very Nice coin, I agree RWB. Everyone wants to change history now days.
  8. I think GC gives you four options for shipping coins . I just always go with the lower USPS it almost always comes in a short amount of time. I don't think any mail or shipping companies requires a signature any more. I see them deliver and take a picture of the location and that is good enough. I think it will all work out and you will get your coin Jason
  9. Some more nice coins for the set. These are the deals I look for $11 each.
  10. Yes the photos' look good now , I also think this coin is not the real deal.
  11. Try to take your pictures on a white background Fitzz keep the camera about 6" away and zoom in to crop the shot. They may come out nicer if you can also use natural sun light.
  12. I also have hand picked all my ASE,s from US Mint tubes in coin shops and it is very hard to find a raw coin without some small mark. I would not send any in for grading myself, they are nice but not worth the cost.
  13. Yes. I posted the coin on the wrong thread. But it looked so nice I left it here. I did remove it LoL
  14. Yes it does happen. I have even looked up nickels that have fifty cent and Sacajawea reverse, Just the wrong photo but it would be nice.
  15. Washed out liberty and are the eagle wings clipped? What are the odds of having three coins from the same obvers die ? Not good at all.
  16. Well it looks like glue or something stuck to the surface and washing the coin only makes things worst. Now it is a cleaned dirty coin.
  17. I thought this was a good one. https://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/1351227/1943-D-Jefferson-Nickel-PCGS-Genuine-Unc-Details-from-photo
  18. Maybe it was plated years ago and that is why everything is puffed up.
  19. Welcome, I have not seen a mint set quite like that one. The coins inside the holder have tarnished from being handled. The skin oil from who ever put the set together was not very carful and the coins have lost most of there original luster. I would just leave this set alone and enjoy it the way it is.
