  1. That is a Die clash from the obverse die. At some point there was a planchet missing the dies hit and left a impression then it transferred to the coin .
  2. Gold will just be going up and down around the 2K mark until the elections and then it will morph into whatever party wins.
  3. Cool it looks like it has all the numbers and we get a Queen song to go with it.
  4. I am still wondering about the full coin shots nccc , if you have them. I still think it is a worn out die. Remember the die is the opposite of the coin so in reality the small letter over the fat letter is just the lower part of the die and as it wears out the metal pushes away and makes the larger part of the letter. Also your type 1 coins have barely any die scratches in the fields and your type 2 coins are full of them. To me that says a lot of polishing going on. Type 2 over type 1 is stress and polish dies.
  5. It looks like a red dirt coin. I bet you could give that coin a bath and no one here would think bad of you Hinkle
  6. If you are using a phone just place it on a soda can to keep it steady and zoom in with your phone use a white piece of paper to put the coin on. Take a shot and send it here or your PC and then here.
  7. If Hinkle were to slide another IKE into the clip then take a picture. We may be able to see if there is a big variation in the gap if it has been cut and filed . Other than that I would say send it to ANACS.
  8. It may just be a toned coin from something environmental it happens a lot.
  9. That is a punch for steel studs with grommets. I also have been doing electrical work for 50 years. The one thing about these type of punches is with a small piece of metal or trying to make a hole bigger it tends to bend the metal a lot. The coin would be twisted easily .
  10. You can run all over Bob but it will not change anything. What Mike said is pertinent. Research other examples, get more information. Then you will know better what others here are trying to explain.
  11. It looks a little flat but it could be a RPM repunched mint mark. I do not see a listing for it . http://www.varietyvista.com/02a LC RPMs Vol 1/RPMs 1957D.htm
  12. I can see the results Bob. I just cant see the object you are testing it is not in the photo
  13. I would think someone even with vast teaching knowledge would have to have some numismatic background for that job. If not she will be asking others a lot of questions.
  14. I hope we can help . We try not to give out to much information on fake coins. We do not want the bad guys to get better at tricking the public. I am happy to help If you have more coins. I am sure others here will take a look for you also.
  15. It could be a fake people do strange things to coins. The only other thing that I thought made it look realistic was the clad copper edge was pushed from one side to the other indicating the clip was a cut and not just ground off.
  16. It must be, it has the 2007 reverse. Just to name one of the things I see
  17. It is very old so that makes it tough but looking at the strike of the opposite side it may be the real deal.
  18. The nose, chest, knee the hand on the torch all from circulation . It looks like a pocket coin nice and smooth except for the new marks on the tail and rim.
  19. I would not send it in Bill. It is not worth more than $50 at MS 65 and that would be a gift grade I would think. It is nice but I can see a few contact marks.
