  1. I would start a different topic on this coin Bill. It is kinda busy on this one.
  2. I only went to the link to see what kind of misinformation was being handed out. I did not support it by subscribing. It is a joke.
  3. Welcome to the forum. It looks more like Die Deterioration or Mechanical Doubling on the devices and the hair line. There also looks like a scratch on it from a coin roll machine.
  4. Welcome Barbie72. I also have never sent a coin in to be graded. But I will buy a coin that someone else has already graded. Always for less than they paid to have it graded. Many people send in coins that are not worth the cost and loose out if they are shooting for the high grade. I see you have all ready sent some in. If it is for sentimental reasons then it is not a issue.. I hope you get what you are looking for. Good luck with your coins.
  5. I think it looks great .It will stand out on it's own if it is displayed with other coin books.
  6. What I hate is I see lots of coins with knife marks. I have heard of mean old collector's putting the X on saying that one is no good. Now days people collect those coins that were no good.
  7. I do auctions all the time and sometimes the bidders just get caught in a bid loop and it just goes way above its value. It happens on lowball coins and gold all the time.
  8. Yes Bill 2006 was the year PCGS called it, Return to Monticello, after the 2004/2005 Westward Journey Nickels finished.
  9. Wow RWB just posted about a coin like this on the 15th for the Ides of March.
  10. If you collect coins you have to be deminted
  11. Does the coin have a cup to it. Without better pictures I will agree with the other posts and say it is very damaged.
  12. Sometimes people just like to stir up the pot. I do not know about the coin in question only it does not look like the NGC coin posted and that it looks like a over polished cast coin to me?
  13. Perhaps in the last 90 days a collector or two has passed and there roosters flew the coop.
  14. Thanks for your input physics-fan3.14. I think a lot of people try to push a topic with a lot of words to make there point seam worthy. We had a guy that work months here and ATS on trying to convince the members his flowing hair sent was real when it was not. I think it is a great effort to try and find a new variety but for this coin I think it is a worn out die that we are seeing the results of.
  15. I am sorry Ben this happens a lot. People post only the part they want to hear about and neglect the rest. There are many other markers to look for. The members here are only tying to help make a accurate judgment of the coin. We all know what the date looks like. No one can say what the coin is for sure unless we see the whole coin obverse and reverse.
  16. Charlotte gold is a bit up there also. I was looking at some In Pineville SC not long ago and they had quite a bit at a shop there. All nice pieces but to rich for my pocket
  17. I see the date may have the correct doubling but without better pictures like the others have said it may or may not be a FS-101.. It is a beat up specimen for sure.
  18. I agree with Sandon and powermad5000 I Would pick up a Whitman book put the best ones in it maybe put a couple others aside and roll the rest.
  19. So you can't sell a Russian coin because of Putin. The coin is over 100 years old when was the last time it was in Russia. gee wiz..............
  20. Wow this is a strange thread .. LoL I know you did not say that RWB. When I copied it as a quote off your last post it must have not referred to the OP's original quote.
