  1. There are many ways to get around things. I am sure that coin label is real and there are lots of dealers that have many channels to work with.
  2. Picked up one today, very matt looking and the reed edge is very sharp
  3. I am not sure what you are looking for? I do think it is odd that both reverse coins of different years have a die crack in the exact same spot on the right above the A in AMERICA?
  4. I made a purchase of a 1850 2.5 in a 2x2 It was at a good price and had some nice detail and gold color to it. When I got it home I took it out of the 2x2 only to find it had been holed and filled in the rim for a stud to mount a chain. It was unnoticeable in the 2x2 . It was still a nice coin and was well worth the melt price but I just could not bare the thought of keeping it knowing it would never be worth more than just melt. So I returned it and upgraded to purchase this AU 58 graded piece for a few bucks more. This coin is not anything spectacular but I like the coin for what it is and it was around 50% of retail and in a NGC holder. After that incident I resided that any registry, questionable or large purchases would be graded coins to make things easier for my family to deal with after I am gone. I still buy ungraded coins but only in hand to hand combat at low prices.
  5. Well from what I can see in the photos' Lincolns bust the lettering of liberty and the date rotated counter clockwise. None of the letters are reversed on either side and some devices are stretched so I am ruling out a vice job. It is not a bold second strike but it is there IMO ..it is more like a double bounce of the die after the strike. How it happened I don't know but something gave way for this coin to look the way it does.
  6. Ya they are hard to find in good shape and they get good money for graded even though the value is not very high on the retail end.
  7. Yes the 2005 obverse is a tough one and almost all the 2006 to present are not much better. Sharp edge nickels dumping into a big bin at the mint is not nice.
  8. I think you could find almost any coin you want on the internet. I suggest going slow with whatever you decide to collect. Get a Red Book for easy reference and spend some time on this forum asking questions before buying anything.
  9. The MAC stickers are not as trustworthy . The CAC green and gold sticker coins do have a place in the NGC registry.
  10. Cool looking , It looks like it may have got stuck and could be a triple strike. I can see shadows.
  11. I also put them aside or in a book. These two are from bank rolls. I believe the nice ones out there are from old coin jars that just get cashed in at the coin star and other places. Maybe these will be worth a buck or two someday.
  12. I have also made some purchases on eBay and agree with powermad5000 it depends on the seller. I have been happy so far.
  13. More nice roll coins. It is very hard to find 2004 Lewis and Clark Nickels without a sail full of contact marks.
  14. I agree with Greenstang it is a normal 1969 with the floating roof I think I can still see the faint FG on the reverse .The more you roll hunt the many more you will find like this. It is from a over polished die.
  15. I am glad to see we have been talking about a worthy coin. One of the rare ones. Nice coin even with the dent.... LoL
  16. Thank you for the photos. The 2009 Lincoln cent series has so many small imperfections it is crazy. If the coin is not in AU or MS quality none of them would be worth a premium. Keep up the hunt. I enjoy it . I roll hunt all the time and find lots of nice book coins and once in a blue moon a error.
  17. Well if I could get them all at the price I payed for these I would be happy $4 for the 65 and $3 for the 68. It is amazing how the prices go up and down on the Jeff's some can be crazy and others worth nothing.
  18. And after you do all that work it is still a details coin. Yes if it is a rare coin it will be worth a bit more but I just don't like the thought of that word on the holder.
  19. This is the fun stuff roll hunting finding nice old coins in circulation. This coin is 61 years old. I love it
  20. I was at Kings Mountain Battle Grounds this weekend and picked up a colonial replica, sold by the US. Park Service.
  21. I see a bit of a MAD strike but it is minor
  22. Thanks Neo, It is a big set and I have to shop a lot to try and get the best coin for the best price. It is not easy and it may take a while on my budget. .
