  1. I found some more reasonable priced nickels for the set this weekend.
  2. The photo's are good but the coin is not, Perhaps the coin slid in the die press but it looks like post mint damage. The metal has been pushed around you can see it on the edge. I do not think this would not be the case if it was in the striking of the coin.
  3. I agree that the planchet sheet may have been thinner than normal and that would account for the weight loss.
  4. I do not collect the new dollar coins. I stopped after the Ike Dollar. This past week we have seen some questions on these coins. I can only think that someone has found one that has sold for a silly price and now every click on the internet is after the same coin ?
  5. Even if it was a error it would not be worth sending it in unless the coin is worth well over $100. Please remember that this coin is almost 80 years old and any evidence that the L was grease filled or shaved off has long past.
  6. I have seen many Lincoln cents with the lower part of the L missing it is the first thing to wear off from a coin rolling machine or a grease filled die can make things look like they are missing.
  7. I Don't want to see it go .I want it to last for future generations of collectors.
  8. As most of you know I love to roll hunt. I have to say I do not think there is much of a future for the cent if they keep up with this zinc core and a thin copper shell. Once the zinc is exposed it just starts to rot. This is a 1984 that is almost no more.2.24 g
  9. I shop for the older graded Commemorative's all the time and many of them look like there was never any quality control on the strikes. It is almost like it was more important to get them done and over with and out of the basement. I bet this is being sold as a MS64.
  10. The problem with a crack is everyone has to touch it and rub it that is why the tone is missing around it. Kinda like putting a wet paint sign up there will always be fingerprints on the paint.
  11. Another nice proof to add to the big set.
  12. Welcome , As Lem and Sandon have mentioned there were no proof coins in 65,66 and 67 only regular and SMS coins. Some of the SMS coins were nice enough to get special designations and it looks like you have one.
  13. Hear is a thought. The mint is always trying to save a buck. Perhaps the star coin edge press was used for other older edge lettering and not all of the old lettering was removed enough and there are ghosts impressions left behind. Kinda like a O over CC die.
  14. Well that 1950 thing kinda puts a Kibosh on the whole error. What fun coins show up on this forum people are so clever. Good Eye Kurt
  15. I agree this is a tough one to say for sure the fact that some devices look real like the beaded edge on the obverse is stretched out that is hard to recreate.
  16. LoL Not quite.... but there is a clash mark on the M of Dime on the reverse. I think it adds a little extra to a already nice piece
  17. Take a look at this site some coin caps do get struck repeatedly and rotate before falling off . https://www.error-ref.com/?s=Capped+die
  18. I do Bill . I still put good looking nickels I find in books.
  19. I just wanted to post a couple of nice coins I found today. No Errors ,No Double Dies and No strange MM just plane old nice looking 74 and 75 year old coins.
  20. It could be a capped die error. Some of the devices are repeated. The pictures are not clear it is hard to tell for sure. Is the coin curved a bit ?
  21. You just increased the value of that coin with only the flip of a wrist
