  1. It looks like someone other than the US mint put a P on that coin with some kind of metal punch.
  2. Ah yes I remember that word . Change the name from tarnished to toned and add $100 thank you very much.
  3. So do yourself a favor Forget69 get the book and read the threads here. These guys are cool and you will learn a lot from many of the members.
  4. Yes Kevine the problem with mint sets and proofs is they can look damaged or a error inside the plastic. Most USB scopes have multiple LED lighting so they throw shadows. I suggest not opening mint sets or proofs to see if there is a problem they are not worth much to start with and much less after opened.
  5. I buy one every 20 years I actually look for old ones.
  6. I Do find some cool coins looking for book coins mostly small die cracks and chips. Most of the oddity's you would never know are even there but the USB scope makes it easy to check dates on coins when you get older and your eyes are not as good as they used to be. Once in a while you get something like a Wam or Cam a Spike or a new style double die which to me are not true double dies like a 1955 just variety's or oddity's in the die. Here are some below. Not worth anything unless you were a collector but the fact that I found them to me is good enough.
  7. They work great 5 coins per year. 3 rows of 5 and stackable.. LoL
  8. .Yes V 75 I also pick the best of the bunch and bookem Dano. My sorting trays for Quarters
  9. I was not looking for that it was just there. If I find a true oddity I save it and then look for more to back up my findings. There are some people who do go a bit overboard. We get a lot of parking lot and dryer coins here. I try to post only stuff from my roll hunting that is fun and intriguing. I have not found any coins that I can retire on like the Utube coins.
  10. I roll hunt looking for coins to fill my coin books. I also like Roll Hunting. I have a USB magnifier scope for my PC and I pick up a lot of odd looking coins when checking the dates and mint marks. I don't want to call them all error coins but some are worth a spot in the old metal tin box. I have one 1995 D cent left to finish up one of my Lincoln books so I have been searching cent rolls the last few weeks . Normally a winter time project but with all the people around this year vacationing there are a lot more ( home rolls ) at the bank. Maybe I will get lucky and find my D cent.
  11. I got some new members for the Nickel set. A very nice 1946 S a clean sharp looking coin. Also got a gold toned 1975 D. Looking at it I was thinking it was encapsulated to soon . It was still starting to turn on the reverse. I wonder if it will continue to change now it is in plastic ? I doubt it.
  12. There is also die cracks on the obverse of that coin. I also do not know enough to say anything other than the fact that it looks way to nice like almost AU55-58 It would be worth big bucks if it was the real deal.
  13. Rummaging through some cent rolls I have found three of these die crack 2022 cents in different rolls. I am hoping with any luck to find one that may have a chip out of it before they changed the die. This one is to minor a crack for a submission but it is still a fun find.
  14. Yes if it was graded as a FBL would someone not see there is a mark through the bell lines
  15. Your numbers look good to me . and coin one 1895 is a pass on it, in my book.
  16. If you are just looking to buy at or below melt value buying a details coin is one way to know that it is a authentic coin and less chance of paying big money for a fake coin.
  17. Great hunting Chris, Sometimes you just get lucky. I am glad you are having a good time. I also like to spend time with the grandkids and I give them stuff like Kennedy's, Sacagawea's and Presidential dollars that I have found in change through the years. It's great fun all around.
  18. That would eat up my pocketbook fast. I have one 1880 and that's all I can do for now. One of every year is my goal for now and that is taking a while shopping around. I am just starting to get into the high price ones in the middle 1888 to 1895 I did both ends first LoL....
  19. Happy birthday Karen. It sure looks like a 102. I never save those myself they are cool in my book but not a eye catcher for the common man. You need magnification to see what we see. I am always looking for the 101 Double ear. but if you can get $25 for it more power to you.
  20. I purposely purchased a 1878 with that change on the label of the holder so whoever receives that coin when I am gone would know there are some coins that have variety's I also like to pick up VAM's if the price is nice.
  21. I think it will be a good addition to my Morgan set. After removing most of the scratches on the case and putting it with the rest of the set it seams to fit in quite nicely. Also purchasing a Morgan for half price always makes it look even better.
  22. A new addition to the collection. My first toned Morgan (not by much). I cant decide if I like it or not, It is a nice strike. The holder has some scratches but the price was right so it works for this cheap old guy.
  23. I would say the 1885 is a 30 to 35 also. Worth about $30 to $35 LoL
  24. Welcome to the forum. If you can post a picture of the coin obverse and reverse I am sure you will get some good advice on grading.
