  1. Congrats DW, and also a big thanks for your input to the forums.
  2. I have quite a few of the gold tone nickels not of this hoard per say and many look quite natural and a few that look iffy. What VKurtB said for Morgans ,could also suggest the reverse marks on the nickels are from a canvas bank bags. Not likely but who can say. I live near the ocean and many salt marshes are around. Being in construction my whole life in this area I have found the sulfur air from the marshes change colors of items inside and outside on houses near marshes. I wonder if I take my coins and bury them in the marsh will they tone
  3. it is a good looking cud. as cuds go it is in a good location. Almost like someone planed it that way. A bowl on top of his head.
  4. So the coin has a similar look to a matt coin but not dull, kinda shiny. Sounds like a nice long bath? Maybe with a cigar and a bottle of Jack. I know my surface gets funny looking if I stay submerged to long
  5. It looks like Post mint damage to me and maybe a spot of something stuck to the coin no mater what it is, it is not in very good shape to be something collectable . Sorry
  6. Yes these shots are from my USB microscope. It picks up everything but in hand you can not see the seam. I can see this being passed around without a second glance.
  7. I think getting the weight to be 5g is cool, also if I did not have a scope or a loop it would be hard to see the edge.
  8. I really did find it in a roll of bank nickels. It is a very nice example even the weight is 5g but they still have a hard time hiding the seam. I can't believe someone would spend the time and energy to make these. Still I think it is a cool find. Here is some shots of the edge
  9. This coin is making me crazy. Every time I flip it over to see the rotation the reverse it is missing. This may be a true error coin 2000 P on one side and 2001 P on the other. I even went and got my wife's purple hand mirror thinking someone would say no way. It would be a fun coin for a bet. Heads I win tails you loose. I think it is called a Two Hammer Die error.
  10. Don't quote me but I think there was a time long ago when the mint would give these out. So I was told. Then people started to collect them and that put a end to freebees
  11. Very nice coins. I am sorry I made you get a slabed coin. I think you have enough raw ones to fondle to satisfy your cravings and if it gets to much there is always the five o'clock NA meetings.
  12. It looks like a small date zink to me just from the texture of the fields.?
  13. Another nice one today a little Silver is always nice.
  14. I think it is Bills coin, and he is offering it out at under $100. That is my thought.
  15. I found a nice 1963 D while hunting this morning.. It must have been a escapee from a old coin book. You don't see to many with steps on them anymore.
  16. I know I would not want ungraded Bill. But that's me. I know in graded examples these sell high. I would guess yours to be around a VF20-25. Good luck
  17. I think you have been doing a awesome job finding good looking coins Jo I still have to say that almost all photo shots of a raw coin can make a coin look any way they want it to look. When you shoot with light or white color it is true looking. A dark background changes the coins look so it looks brighter and cleaner. When you take a shot straight on it takes away all the fine cleaning lines. I have held many a coin in hand with a loop in store light and did not see lines until I got to natural lighting by a window. Shopping coins off the net is all a shot in the dark. LoL I think VKurtB can add to this he has taken a couple photos in his day.
  18. I like your set Neo. I can check the dealer near me but I think they are all raw coins in 2x2 no PCGS or NGC holder half's.
  19. It starts at the bottom right of the building and through the bush it looks like.
  20. Back to the Whitman holders, they make a five coin holder.
  21. You can have your cell phone in the pokey that's nice of the guards.
