  1. I just got a NGC Mail on the Stack's Bowers site there is a auction going on for the last ASE it is up to $11.000 ?
  2. I was thinking you got the Ben with the scratch but you say it is on the holder ?
  3. Yes I was wondering why you wanted the VAM listing to check coins ? I have a hard enough time looking for a vam marker with a coin in my hand let alone from a photo?
  4. I know you want raw coins that is cool and from all the posts you are checking things out closely. I just would hate to see you get a bad one that's all.
  5. Sorry Kevine, The whole SMS thing can be confusing and the internet does not help. SMS coins were only made because collectors had there proofs taken away IMO. The first SMS sets were not even made until 1966. Yes they made 1965 coins in 1966 until August also they were clad. I don't think they were making silver 1964 SMS coins in 1966 at San Francisco. On a different note. I know there were some (special pieces) from 1964 that were made and found but they were only a small amount per say.
  6. Well at least it has a stamp on it (COPY) if someone see's it.
  7. It is MS looking but it is a photo. Buying raw coins from pictures is way chancy. You may do well and get real coins but there is that chance you will get a fake down the line? Here is the VAM I like to use. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/Morgan_VAMs_by_Date
  8. There was no coins sent out SMS in 1964 only the last of the silver proof sets. The only SMS sets I know of are 65,66 and 67 like these.
  9. A .T. I was looking at the E coin it almost looks like the juice puddled up around the word trust. ... Lol
  10. Yes it makes it hard when shopping and prices are four years old . That is why I use others as well and go somewhere in between
  11. if you look it up in the NGC price Guide you can get a lot of information an a specific coin. When you find the coin on the list on the left click on the date and mint and a new window will open with info
  12. I have to say that I picked the Jefferson Nickels because I like them. There are quite a few that are rare, true most are more available and much cheaper than other series coins. Yes a low budget collection. I agree, I would never be able to afford such a large number of coins in a set of graded coins. I do a lot of hard shopping to get the ridicules low prices. I find that way it hurts much less, when I find that one I have to pay half price for..... LoL
  13. I find both price guides are the high retail or max price you would want to pay for anything. Oh and welcome to the forum
  14. I have never seen the older holder with a * . I am guessing the ( T ) is for toned.
  15. Going for the 67FS in nickels is like purchasing MS69 + 70 in other denominations. For some reason nickels are very popular now. I saw a couple of bidders fighting over a $90 coin that ended at $1500 If you shop around you may get some reasonable priced ones. Good luck if you go with the war set.
  16. My local coin shop owner picked up a collection of NGC graded ancients must have been about 30 coins ranging in price from $200 and up some well over $1000 cool looking stuff just to rich for my pocket
  17. I think you would enjoy the War nickels. It is a stand alone set in the NGC registry. They can get pricey in 66FS and any Nickel that is 67 is always a chunk of change
  18. I started with the WWII silver set 42 to 45. Thanks Bill but Lem is the champion when it comes to Nickels
  19. Not sure if you can see it CJ but here is my 39S/R40
  20. I got some more 66 guys for the set. They are not FS but they were so reasonable it was like buy one and get three free. I just could not pass them up.
  21. I agree with Lem That nickel has had a tough life
  22. Sometimes the holograms wear off or if someone used a harsh cleaner it may have removed it.
  23. It is going to be a fun hunt to get those 09's in my registry set , Also VKurtB it is very hard to find any Nickels after 2006 without bag marks in rolls and even a lot of the MS coins I have seen are peppered with them. The edges are just to sharp right out of the shoot they mark up.
