Is this coin a counterfeit?
Mr.Bill347 replied to Nathaniel1580's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
It appears to be a very old shekel made into a necklace. if real, it could be valuable https://www.ebay.com/itm/233666562008 Very Rare Silver Shekel Of Tyre Ancient Judea Authentic Rare Old Coin -

Not the best photos but from what I can see, it is. compare to photos of an actual high relief coin. -

1943 bronze? Is this the real thing🤯
Mr.Bill347 replied to Equalibrium's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Attached is a picture of the real thing from GREYSHEET https://www.greysheet.com/news/story/the-mystique-of-the-1943-bronze-cent-spans-time According to population reports, the total number of 1943 bronze cents from all three domestic United States Mint facilities operating during the time number approximately 20. There are 10 to 12 known specimens from the Philadelphia Mint, six from the San Francisco Mint, and single-known example from the Denver Mint. I'm Skeptical, Your appears way too light compared to the actual coin. -

Deciding which coins to have graded....
Mr.Bill347 replied to LLC0669's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Rule of thumb, if the coin has a value of $100 or more or has significant family value, or if it is a highly collectible variety then it is worth the cost of grading. Grading will cost upwards of $60 including shipping both ways (25) for return shipping plus (5) for original card container return. So there is submission tier cost 15-30 and special labeling fees, conservancy fees etc. if you are doing it for collecting purposes only, it’s a personal choice. Keep in mind it takes 4-6 weeks after NGC receives the item. Research each Coin on NGC coin explorer and NGC census. welcome to numismatics. Enjoy your hobby and good luck. You can always post clear pictures of obverse and reverse of each coin here for very professional opinions. -

My condolences as well, and she passed at such a young age! Very sorry. you can buy and entire set of all three mints pennies from 1956-2021 on EBay for $24.95 plus 8.95 shipping priority mail. Look for this title. 1956-2021 P,D,S MINT LINCOLN MEMORIAL & SHIELD CENTS SET best of luck and my best wishes. -
Cmon, let’s not have a pxssing contest, agree to disagree. Tridm, don’t be so offended, coin pictures are very hard to do. Vkurt has been very helpful in mine getting better as have many others. Don’t like criticism? Don’t post. Remember our fallen heroes this weekend. peace, out

1982-D penny (PMD) Guitar Pic Anyone Haha
Mr.Bill347 replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Looks like it started through a penny roller machine. I always hated those things because they ruin perfectly good and perhaps even valuable coins. -
I found this example of a 1973 s proof die clash NGC graded on EBay for $625. It has some of the same clash marks as yours.0

That’s us an excellent specimen! If that doesn’t qualify for strong strike full bell lines, I’m not what would. According articles I have read, the S mint was know for soft strikes. It would be nice to see both sides of the coin. Good picture too!

Congratulations We BROKE the mint!
Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Well Hoghead you can avoid the fray. I just bought a 2021 Type 2 NGC graded MS70 for 65.00 on Modern Coin mart. that way at I am not going to get screwed by the Hoarders on EBay and elsewhere. I will wait till October by dealing with a dealer at an actual price. https://www.moderncoinmart.com/2021-american-1-oz-silver-eagle-t-2-pcgs-ms70-fs-flag-label-sku64462.html -

Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
James, that would certainly tick me off too! I wonder if it would do any good at all to speak with someone about this. Maybe they could at least refund the cost plus shipping, so you could buy a great coin somewhere else. -
Congratulations We BROKE the mint!

I shouldn’t complain over what everyone fully expected. Besides, I did get lucky on the 2021 W ASE Proof (now an NGC PF70). count your blessings! -

Those are incredible ! Your pictures aren’t that bad and show the beauty of what you have. I think they are awesome! Just curious what is “the shell” that you spoke if silver lined? TY -
Sorry the mint would not have done this to a coin.someone was bored and had fun with a file or angle grinder. Post mint damage

Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I am quite sure they knew what they were doing, the big dealers will profit greatly, and I am sure those in the hierarchy of the mint will profit as well. something stinks around here! -
