I didn’t know about this coin. Until today.

Agree, except these coins have always been sought after. I can see why they are going to produce the 100th anniversary. I think it’s special and since I have a 1922 ms63 Peace Dollar and a 1921 ms63 Morgan, of course, I’ll have to get them. -

That’s cool. I think this is a good chance that this may be a one year issue coin. Better hang on to them. I’m going to get a roll too. -
That’s why we do it! Screw the points. Each person has their specific likes and dislikes. I bought a lot of slabbed coins that had BP been graded because I couldn’t trust, and verify the coin first. I don’t see the real benefit of grading PF70 coins unless you know it is going to appreciate like 5he 2021 W Silver Eagle PR70 ultraCam I was lucky to obtain in those first five minutes of going on sale. The best coin I have so far. I only buy raw coins if I see appeal or obvious strengths in details such as this 1909 Barber Half. Not intending to grade it, but I like it and got a fairly good deal on it

Alright JP, this is your fault! Lol I bought a 1968s proof set, our wedding year, a 1972 s proof set, my first sons birth year, and a 1974 s proof set, our youngest sons birth year. All for $27.40. Not as cheap as you got, but it will do. Now I gave a set of four including the 1976 proof set.

I have a couple clips so I just it them in flips. Hang on to It though as not that common

Yellowstone park Commemorative coin
Mr.Bill347 replied to Patman54's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
The coin is very unusual and as you found out, hard to find. I did a pretty exhaustive search and found none like it. It is a Frank Gasparro design which, in my mind makes it special. Who is Frank Gasparro? https://coinweek.com/dealers-companies/pcgs-dealers-companies/frank-gasparro-and-his-coins/ -

I don’t believe it’s gold with the spots, however I think it is an old souvenir coin. I have three or four souvenir silver coins that are beautiful. Mine are worth maybe $20. -
I’d want to know, because if it is real, regardless of grade, you’ve hit the jackpot, if not NGC will let you know or grade it. Either way it would make sense to grade it and find out! The weight is right, the magnet works, there are only 15-20 known to exist.
-
Before you spend the money to gave it graded, it won’t grade very high, please have a professional numismatist (coin dealer) check it out. The 19 and the 44 are inconsistent which concerns me as this coin is often counterfeit. good luck.

Nice JP! Great idea.

JP you must be doing something right! My wife only buys clothing. Sweet that she buys you proof sets. A great collection you have. I don’t think it would warrant sending in though. don’t end up like this guy. On eBay there are tons of these priced from 4-12.00 each. I bought the one 1976 bicentennial set, it that is all I am getting for now. had a bunch of them years ago, but decided to liquidate my collection and didn't get but 4 or 5 bucks for them. I must have had 10-15 sets. That’s why I don’t want to fall into that annual thing again.
