Yes essentially just starting out. I did some coin collecting in my youth - decades ago.

I am mostly interested in accumulating precious metals, primarily silver and also some gold. Silver dollars interest me because they have the value of the silver and the additional collectorvalue.

Welcome to the forum and back to collecting. If you are interested in accumulating or “stacking” PMs, buying bars of silver or gold may be something you want to think about. You can get them in several different sizes and the bigger you go, the less you will pay overall. You will usually pay less of a premium on bars over coins and get more bang for your buck. You could do a mix of bars and coins if you want to as well. It all depends on weather you are looking more at collecting or investing. Just wanted to throw that out there for you to consider. Whatever you do, I hope you have fun with it.

Another nice set. We are going to have to change your name from Crack Master to Mr. Proof. Or we could just use a lot of a.k.a.s :golfclap:

I posted before that My wife liked the Silver Eagles we got in TN.. So she said to get one coin for every date a Grandchild and Great Grandchild was born so Wednesday I ordered 14 of them and went to pick them up today 70 miles away. Well when I got there they were all ready set aside for me. I asked if I could inspect them first and they said sure. Granted these are mostly older coins I ordered, but out of the 14 coins 10 were scratched or had some toning spots or ticks on them. I hope I did not make anyone mad at me but I asked for replacements. They made a trip to the store room once and 6 came back good .I sent the bad ones back and they came back with 2 more good ones. Out of the original order for 14 We ended up with 8 good Eagles and I bought the nice holders for them also . I apologized for being such a fussy B and the dealer laughed. I said ya that is kinda funny I am sure lots of collectors are. I told him I would call Monday and put in a replacement order for the ones that were bad. I have to say these guys and gals went all out to make it right for me and my wife.

Does anyone think I was to fussy ?? I am eventually (coughs,, My Wife is)  going to have the full collection and scratched coins are not on my list.

I don’t think being “fussy” is an issue when you are making a purchase. As collectors we always want the best we can get. You had every right to ask for better if they had them. I say kudos, and don’t settle for anything but what you think your hard earned money is worth.

Truly incredible coins. Just look at the luster popping and original nickel tone. Very well done. While I don't participate in the registry, I do have registry quality proofs of early Jeffersons I will post sometime. Good images are the hard part though and yours were done well !

I thank you for the comments. Joes work is top notch. Would love to see your coins sometime.

I just hope I did @Lem E's coins justice with my work.  Without question the nicest Jefferson nickels ever to lay under my lens.  It truly was my pleasure to do this for you my friend.  I would also like to say a BIG thank you for the kind words on my photography.  It means a lot to this old man.

Happy hunting, Joe AKA crazyhound/Buffalo Head

You did them more than justice my friend, and I am looking forward to seeing the amazing work you will do with the others. I thank you greatly for this opportunity.

Hahaha. I actually thought of you when I bought it. Nickels baffle me. All of them look highly over graded to me. And this one is questionable 6 FS to be honest. When I get it I’ll show you better pics. I told the guy it was over graded and negotiated it down. Maybe it’s better in hand. 6FS nickels are almost like unicorns. I haven’t found many at all.

They are out there but not easy to find and people usually want an arm and a leg for them. From what I’ve seen, unless the pics are really good, the steps don’t  show very well. Probably be better in hand. You have a better chance with the war nickels because they usually struck up pretty good and there are more of them that have been submitted for grading, or pre war nickels. After that they start to go downhill into mushville.

He does indeed. His pics are nice. I wish I had more than just the 11 done. Can’t wait to get more to him.

I just took a look at your registry. Those look amazing.  I like all those top pops.

Thanks again brother. I’d like to have more of those top pops but they tend to be quite expensive.
