Hi Mike here again. Well it took a month buti received my tokens back from NGC my 1795 Middlesex came back. I knew it was in good shape MS 65 Red Brown. I was happy with that. I was upset they made two mistakes. Why? They broke up the group of token graders. Two out of eight. So until the group is back intact i will not send anymore in. Graders who only did ASE doing 230 year tokens . Just doesnt fit. Grades on the other seven a MS 61 i expected that the rest MS64 . The next batch will have tokens frim the new Birmingham mint i should get proof on two we will see. Be safe stay well. Mike

Hi Mike here. A few years ago i bought two rolls of 1945 ten centavos. When i opened them up they were beautiful. Espically the roll with the Allen b i forget the number. The whole roll. !!Heratige sold some in MS 67 for a few thousand dollars i have a few MS 67 ready to go. I will get a reserve and hope i have that good luck. There worse than the 1955 cent. These were made in Denver. I will let you know. Mike

Hi i hope your well during all this. NGC says there up and running. I know they have to be working with a limited staff. Now i just received an email from conservation! about one of my tokens. They said that its eligible for cleaning! What i won this at a very respectable auction. I chcked this when i receivednit with my loop. No marksn scratches nothing wrong with it. This i was afraidnp of peoole.who grade eagles all day now grading tokens. That are 230 years old. They dont know what there looking at.Dollars to donuts it was thebred on the token. I have many Red Brown. Now its corrision. I will melt it when it gets home. No guareente it will get a grade. Never had a problem all my tokens grade from 63 to 66 now this. After years carossion. There wrong inwill put it up if i ever get them back. And inwill wait till the token group is intact. Stay healthy wealthey and wise. Wait till this
On 4/14/2020 at 6:07 PM, Revenant said:It sounds like Ali interpreted this as a request to make a competitive set for condor tokens and/or civil war tokens. Hopefully that was what you were actually asking about. This idea has actually been brought up many times before.
The biggest problem I think you or NGC would have in making a set of this would be deciding which varieties / types / slots to put into such a set and deciding what tokens would be eligible for each slot. I don't think that would be nearly as simple and straightforward as many people seem to think and it would probably result in an unreasonably large set. I think that's why they keep responding to the idea with "make a custom / signature set." And it's worth noting, as I did one of the last times that this came up, that several people have done just that and some of those sets have won major signature set awards. So... it's not like really great and cool sets of condor tokens and civil war tokens aren't getting made in the registry. They are! You just maybe have to be willing to look for them.
In case you're curious, here are links to three nice civil war token sets I've seen before and linked others to:.

https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/wcm/CoinCustomSetView.aspx?s=15784
https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/wcm/CoinCustomSetView.aspx?s=1354
Hopefully you can enjoy looking at those! Civil War tokens are an interest of mine too.
One of these days I'd love to get into them more but I need to finish some other things first. I very briefly had my own custom set for some graded civil war tokens I have but it was tiny, unimpressive, and I deleted it because I had no spare time and energy for it and looking at it made me sad.

This coin is in my Symphony Set, which is also under the custom sets here on NGC, the direct link is here: https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/wcm/CoinCustomSetGallery.aspx?s=9450

Dont you buy these medals.at estate sales? You did nor redack one of your buys. They go for a low price. The goverment espically the Tresurary department makes.these on order of the president or congress. These are not medals for the public. There for the individual they were made for. I so not see any numasitic value in these.
-
Very good examples. Pictures do tell a thousand words.
-
I have seen many varieties not only in Brutish tokens and coins but the civil war tokens. I have that sixpence with hearts i havent picked up the one witout hearts! They probably usenthe samemdies as was stated above thanks.
-
Dont forget have all the fun you want. But NGC want the label back. Ask them. Its for accounting purposes. At one time they paid ten dollars credit form each one returned. And i could never understand you spend money good money and you turn around and bust them out. Send it back they do it for free. And they get there label. At least your not flying around in space like a.collectior i know!! Enjoy stay safe and stay on earth !

The 2017 enhanced uncirculated set made for the mints anniversary broke out of thebgate and sold out in a day. Two daysblater they were flying ba xk. I like the coins you can buy this complete ten coin set for nothing today. I always wait. I sid on these but also knew a seller so i didnt have to waite to long. I found an artice on this set. What a mess. I mean large orders sent back. I put in my browser 2017 enhanced set. Read the article. Something went on. To the point there giving them away. Thanks Mike.
-
Absolutly wonderdul coins. I have some beautys but dont know how to get them up. I picked up a Kempson token from the coventry set only its not written on the edge. Its written as unique on the auction ticket. Never seen one witout the edge writting! Onenof a kind is nice. Stay safe everyone stay inside look over your great sets and this to shall pass

I have all the faith in you . I know the kids understand.i bet they keep your spirits up because they look up to you. You have done a terrificjob with them. Years from now they will talk about you. As you and them get older. So these are just set backs.Thats all they are. The events will go on. And all will be as it was before the virus. In collecting we have to change schedules. Others will have to reinvent there whole lives. We will survive the kidsnwill pick right up. Good luck my friend.
-
I agree its late. However i collect on a budget no impulse buying. A good friend of mine convinced me that anything that comes from the mint will come down. He was right. I will not publish my price all i can say is he was right. I wated a few months they were still on ebay. Now i said i buy on a budget. But i buy smart. I bought that set very cheep from the prices that came down like a.rock rolling from a mountain. The longer you waite the the more they come down. The seller is getting new items to sell and wants old in vintorty gone. Thats the time to pull the trigger. Im very happy. The seller made his money on the early sellers. And its always good to have a friend as a seller. Mike
-
Hello my friend. Its been to long. You talk about a long time i can identify with that. You remember my Coventry set . It took two years to find the last one. Five years to complete. So i know what waiting is all about. The constant serching the months and years go by. But once you get that last one its a sweet feeling. My motto is Never Give Up!!
-
Hi Mike here. I have two coins going to Heritage for sale. My handler went over the records and said these will do well . I said i have seen two sell for good prices. There 1945 Ten Centavos DDR. Worse than the 55 cent. Made in the U.S.A. In Denver and they made them in San Francisco. The whole roll graded MS 65 to MS 67. I bought them from Gov mint. I called the ANA spoke to Sam. After investigation he said wow. There are like 31 in the world and with all yours drops them to the 20's. So when i spoke to Heritage they sent two pages of packaging. Thats done. Now.the question with this virus are people spending? I will havebto wait and see if they are off they go. I will have a reseqrve. Mike
-
H i i stopped sending coins to A.N.C.S. Years ago. I did gibe them a shot. Four came back at differt time. One i was so mad i threw it . Thats what it took. The xoin was gradded by NGC no double die. I never sent it to a.n.c.s for a double.die but they dound it. The next three are so child like. Sent in a coin a cent came back with three sets of letters. Again just for grading. Now i knew the last three stood do Late Die Strike. I called them they had no idea what the remaining six letters were for. So i asked dor a supervisor. He didnt know. The other twoyou get the prcyure.. There nor a grading company there a variety company. Thatvsums them up. P.C.G.S overgrades. Verty liberal . Send a 70 to NGC you will get a 69 or.68. I stay with NGC no problems. Except there backed up. Probally take weeks . But its worth the wait. Thanks andnstay home write journals. Go back over those wheats do anything but stay home.
-
What gets my Irish up is that the ANA will have a registry set. There corporation Mission is education. Now because everyone has one there will be no more learning. I have to get that coin to beat so and so. Collecting is over. Learning is over. It's all about money. This site is complicated to say the least. I do not see the ANA surviving this. Me I still want to learn do research . I want to enjoy collection coins and TOKENS,and medals.
-
Him again Mike here. I have 14 to send in. I know what your going to say condos token collectors do not slab there tokens. After studying them for years and The way They were taking care of. I decided to slab for protection. For ,,future generations. Not for grade. I have a collection of those not slabed. But the tokens I like allot that were slabed five years ago are still a lovely red brown or proof like. The coventry of course.. Do you know the policy on copper coins at NGC. You must send them back before ten years. If not they will be taken out of the slab and regraded. I check the date when they were slabed on the verification app. I it took five years to finish the set I have nine years to go. Taken care my friend.
-
It's great to have a matched set of anything keep them going.
-
Some day. I was hoping for my first show in August. I'm finely walking I want to go to the P.AN. Show. But a dark cloud hangs over all of them. I have tried to get in touch with the CDC. No luck so now in will get my info from a good friend. My Kempson set of Coventry. England has 19 tokens five years of auctions all are MS 63 to MS.66. Been collecting 26 years from my couch and I have some wonderful coins. I enjoy yours. Mike
-
Just saw your site with some wonderful tokens and coins. A man after my own heart. The ANA has seen my sets but everyone thinks its great but them. I have many not slabed but some have to be protected. Like the red and brown the Handel reverses. I could go on. There so underrated yet they play a big part of our hobby. They saved countries. Britain was saved from bankruptcy. Our soldiers used them to send home for the family. You get a MS 66 for 225 year old token and no one cares. To me that's sad. Our own mint makes MS 67 and they get a good price. Doesn't make sence. Enjoy my friend. And thanks. Mike
-
I think there wonderful. Very well done. I would of never seen them . I have been sick so I apologize for the long time making a comment. Great I will be more active and it made me feel great to see some of your collections. Mike
-
That's not written in stone. Yes they mentioned it. But it goes against there Mission which I read.. You see the ANA mission is to educate about coinage the have classes they teach. The survive on donations. To pay out and put one collectors set against another is against there mission. It will cost money they need money. I would give it time. People.have all ready voices there opinion. NGC is a bussiness. We depend on donors. Thanks Mike
-
Well if you have anything to do with it I know it will be a success. Philadelphia and the area around it have great shows. Forty tables you will be surprised what you will find. I wish you luck and success. Taken care of those kids!!! Mike

I know where you're coming from. I have had two cornea transplants in each eye and am always fearful that I will lose my sight or at least my correctable acuity. I suppose it would be like a person who loves music losing their hearing or a person who enjoys playing guitar, finding their arthritic fingers no longer work. Oh well, at 61, the great beyond is not that far in the future. As long as I make it to this summers ANA WFM in my hometown, I will be Happy Numie.
I don't think you will have a problem. Good things happen to good people. You are one of The nicest gentlemen I have met. Your knowledge of coins the work you do with The Pan kids. I will also pray. Keep up the good work we will all be pulling for you. Mike

I have the same token. As a matter of fact I collect Condor Tokens. I put a P.Kempson set together the one from Warwickshire Coventry 19 tokens all grade from 63 to 66. I had a 65 saw a better token and upgraded. It's on this site as custom set. It took five years. They said I never will complete it a set from 1797. The last one two years. I searched every auction house in Britain I got most from Baldwin's Basement. Some are red brown and some are proof like I have a complaint Handels Reverse. More that have to be sent in. I have been asking everyone from Bill Mckivor on down. NGC does not know if a complete set. One auction house said They event seen one in ten years. I should of known that it was here in the U.S. I would like to know more of your collection. My God save the King is waiting to be sent out. I have them slabed for protection. The environment is changing every day and copper and bronze does not do well. Take care enjoy. Mike P.S. My set of Coventry is on this site under custom sets. There are forty more with tokens from all over Britain. I'm not in competition with any set. I'm to old.for that. I'm proud of what I did. Mike
NGC vs PCGS? (who’s the best?)

I say NGC. Why because when I watch Rick Tomaska. He shows the grades from PCGS there always three four times higher. You want an inflated graded go to PCGS you want an honest grade NGC. You sell a so I from PCGS . It's a MS. 70. He sends it to NYC it grades MS 68. Now you have a oroblem. Thanks Be well and Be safe
