  1. I do not see any issue with your question or any rule/reason why it would not be posted. I have no information on this issue to share or add so hopefully you can get an answer from someone at NGC, paging @DWLange.
  2. There are none reported that I have seen or heard about. Next time you need to do your research before you send in a coin and pay for the variety service, NGC has a list of the varieties they will attribute and there are no 2019 Lincoln coins on that list. So you will get your coin back graded and holdered with no variety on the label, homework first submissions after.
  3. The 46 is as Mike noted a simple error, the person that created the label typed it wrong and it was not caught before it left. Real basic and easy to fix if you send it in to NGC, however if you don't want to spend the money to send it in you don't have to. There are collectors that like to collect these mechanical errors although I do not think these carry very much of a price premium. As to the Kennedy its possible that NGC is considering the third minor clip the blakesley effect and did thus did not consider it a full clip. I would agree with Mike that a call to customer service could provide the answer you seek on that coin.
  4. 1) Someone else will always have deeper pockets. 2) Buy quality over quantity. 3) Do not buy the hype, the brand of plastic does not make a coin better. 4) Do not overreach for a coin unless its a once in a generation opportunity, another coin will come along.
  5. It is very difficult to answer your questions without seeing a full shot of the obverse and reverse along with the close up. From just this it looks like damage.
  6. First it is called a "planchet" not "planchette". A planchette is: "a small board supported on casters, typically heart-shaped and fitted with a vertical pencil, used for automatic writing and in seances" Second most of the time these are just commonly called "clips", and yes you do appear to have a genuine clip as the edge by the clip is slanted toward the clip and there appears to be a very slight blakesley effect on the opposite side of the clip. There are collectors that like to collect these types of errors, I am not one myself so I cannot say with any degree of certainty on a value, my WAG is about $50.
  7. Costs $3 to have the green bean reapplied, plus the back and forth shipping. Should you not wish to spend the money to ship it back and forth and if you still have the coin you can do a cert lookup on the CAC site for free. And you can link that at the time of sale also.
  8. Good morning, I would like to request that a set be added to the Lincoln cent category. There needs to be a 1909 to date full date and mintmark set that does not require varieties. Currently there are only two 1909 to date sets, one that includes varieties and one that is a date set only. I know that there are several Lincoln cent sets already but not every collector wants to or collects varieties. There needs to be a set for collectors that want a full date/mm set but without the varieties.
  9. Interesting and unfortunate at the same time, also the press release is not really very accurate with the statement about making a two way market. The dealer (RARCOA) is only making bids on a dealer to dealer basis, to be a true two way market that would need to extend to the entire marketplace as well.
  10. This is not an error just a die that was used well past its useable life and what you see is die erosion which deformed the letters/numbers. Add in some circulation wear to further flatten the devices and this is what you get.
  11. Yes, you are experiencing pareidolia. But we do appreciate that you posted nice clear photos of both sides.
  12. Please in the future crop your photos and show both sides, nobody can give you a complete or accurate assessment from seeing only one side of the coin. From your description the 79-D may be a broken post filled D, not a valuable error and not worth the costs to grade/slab unless in very high grade which from the one side you have shown it does not appear to be. Again impossible to give any grade with a moon shot of one side of the 58-D, however I'm 100% sure that the coin will not be graded as MS69 by either NGC or PCGS. Biased on just the photos of one side of each coin I would put the value at $.50 for the 58-D and $.01 for the 79-D, my assessment of value for the 58-D could change if a reverse photo is provided.
  13. Brett is the head of PCGS, I do not recall the last name off hand.
  14. The Philly one got all the attention as it was promoted, the Denver FS-103 is has a nice spread on IGWT but not as dramatic on the rest of the obv. If the Denver DDO ever gets added to the registry sets then it will be a much more sought after coin.
  15. Everyone understands your frustration, however this is how the grading system works. In fact that is how most things in life work if you want the better table you slip the hostess a $20, you want to get to work and home faster you pay for access to the express lane. You will get your items back when your turn in line comes up, you may not like the answer but those are just the facts. If you want fast you pay for it, otherwise you wait it out, given your displeasure already I cannot wait to see your post if the grades you receive are not up to your expectations.
  16. Welcome to the forums, we all enjoy seeing photos of coins so feel free to share any you have of your coin collection.
  17. Yep the 72-S is just common worthless strike doubling.
  18. Just damaged bury it, normally I say spend it but then someone else will be asking about it next week.
  19. Many people that have questions about the coins they collect or find in change are raw and, it is not a problem to post a photo of those coins here to receive information about them.
  20. A number of things could have caused this damage, there is no way to be sure what caused the damage. What is clear is that this is post mint damage and not an error.
  21. Congrats on the new purchase, I would recommend not submitting this coin for grading from a pure cost standpoint its really not worth it. The 1916 is a relatively common date and your new coin looks to have been struck from late state dies, I would guess it grades anywhere from AU58 to MS63 from these photos. You would need a grade of MS65 or better to make the cost of grading/slabbing viable, and I just don't see that with this coin. Get an Airtite holder to protect the coin and enjoy it just the way it is.
