  1. Vice job, another coin (or object) was pressed into the rim and left an impression. Copper/zinc is soft and that can be done without damaging the rim on the other side. A Rim Restricted Design Duplication results in the design being raised on the rim, from the photos your coin appears to be incuse on the rim.
  2. I will use one of your photos to highlight what I see and break it down into three componets, first the marks. There is a fair amount of chatter and busyness on the lower bust, and what appear to be a couple of reed marks in the hair curl over the ear and a couple in the right field, the rev is cleaner but a few marks on the eagle's leg and just under the left wing. I am keeping in mind that your photos (very nice BTW) are large and that makes marks seem much worse that they may appear in hand. Second the strike, I see a nice strike for the date which is not really grade limiting but not needle sharp either And third, and the biggest grade limiting factor, is the luster seems more satin like and not the blistering luster that is desired to reach past a grade of MS66. In summary a few marks, decent strike, but the luster is the biggest limiting factor from what I see. Keep in mind that I'm judging photos not the coin itself, so in hand I might have a different opinion. And if you are sending in some other modern coins it would not be that much extra to toss this one in and see if you so desire.

    NGC Census

According to what I see in the census at this moment I see only two coins both MS66
  4. Looks MS65 max to my eye form these photos. Currently there is at least one NGC MS66 listed for sale on ebay for $16 OBO, to cover the grading/shipping costs you would need it to grade MS66+, which I just do not see from these photos. I'm not trying to be harsh, it is a very nice coin, just maybe not worth the cost of submitting.
  5. Variety Vista has three DDR's listed did you check there to see if you could match one of those three? From your photos it just looks like simple strike doubling to me but I suggest that you check VV.
  6. No it is lost, you just do not understand how the TPG system works.
  7. I do enjoy some of both the classic and modern commemorative coins, but there are many that do not interest me so I have no interest in collecting the full series. Many of the modern coins actually display very nice designs, as opposed to our circulating currency, and I very much like many of the gold coins. This is one of my favorites.
  8. The lines near the right wheat ear look more like a die scratch then a die break, in any case not what I would consider a shattered die. On the obv it does look like a die chip with a carbon spot on it.
  9. The coin looks like it could be an authentic 1922 no D strong reverse, most of the markers are there. However, I do not like the word TRUST on the obv, it should be much sharper than it appears in the photo. And the color and surface both look wrong, which might be the photos, but because of those three things I would consider this a fake until it can be proven legit.
  10. A new addition to my nickel type set. This is the first new coin in this set since 2019, it has been dormant for a few years. I'll never be a force in this set but I was able to improve my rank by 20 some spots with this addition. Thanks to forum member @Six Mile Rick for this modern slot filled. Just a super quick cell photo so apologies in advance for the poor pic quality.
  11. So?? the coin will come back in a new holder with a new grade opinion, what good is that old label.
  12. That was not the point of this thread or my reply, we are discussing the procedures for crossing/grading a PCI coin not a PCGS coin. The result is the same whether the submitter or NGC crack the PCI holder the coin has to be graded raw and the PCI holder and grade opinion is forever lost.
  13. Too bad, it would have been a treat to see a real one.
  14. Mike is correct, if you want NGC to crack the coins out you need to fill out and sign the Consent to Remove form. Best of luck on your results, and welcome to the forum.
  15. Would you care to share with us some photos of your coin, I have some doubts that you have a true doubled die, it is far more likely that your coin has some form of strike doubling.
  16. TPG's have been continuously evolving and finding new ways to convince both dealers and collectors to submit and resubmit coins. As long as they continue to move the goal posts and the mint continues to crank out useless modern junk in volume the TPG's will be set for many decades to come.
  17. Welcome to the forum, as Blake said just follow the instructions located on the NGC home page link here click on the submissions tab and go. Just a quick curiosity why is it that you "need" your coin graded?
  18. Here is the WTB post ATS by the OP, (man that is a ton of acronyms in rapid succession ) maybe someone here has one or more. WTB
  19. I am not a modern coin collector, however I do not care whose signature is on the label nor would I pay a penny extra for any signature. But I have no doubt that some collectors would be willing to pay more because of a label signature.
  20. Thats what I get for typing tired, yes 1.2 and I corrected my post.
  21. It is a Gen 1.2 used from 1986 to 1989, commonly referred to as a "rattler" because the coins were slightly loose in the holder and will rattle if you shake it. As a broad blanket statement coins from the rattler timeframe can be graded conservatively, I would say from your photos that this coin has a decent chance to get a + upgrade today, I think a full point grade bump is less likely. I will say that this generation of holder has yielded quite a few gold CAC beans. A great many of the coins still in these rattler holders are there because, like your coin, they are very common dates and the cost to try for an upgrade usually costs more than the coin is worth if it upgrades. Dealers love these because they can hype the under graded lore and many times get close to the next grade money without spending the money to actually try for the upgrade. While this holder was not very popular with dealers and collectors back in the day I rather like them and I have quite a few coins in this generation holder in my old holder custom set.
  22. A call only you can make, if you want them for a registry set then you will have to crack and send to NGC (or attempt a cross at PCGS) so in that case you will have a lot of additional costs and time to invest. If the set is just for your personal enjoyment and viewing and the ANACS coins are eye appealing coins to you then I see no reason you could not.
  23. Mining in the new age? I have a vision of a guy at a desk in a suit and tie with a box of old phones next to him.
  24. While I consider them interesting I do not collect any series by die state or variety. The one I know the best is the 1820 large cent Randell hoard coin. great radial cracks around the entire obverse. Overall I would guess bust halves and Morgan dollars are the most widely collected by those who collect by die state or variety/VAM.
