Oh no......I have to admit I was wrong....there IS a Pac Man penny!!!  It's a 1982 and not a 1977-D, but there it is!!! Now, you need to go post that baby on Etsy with a $100,000 price tag and just wait for it to get snapped right up!!! Shouldn't take long........

I was considering it, but I've decided to go down to the parking lots at the shopping plazas we have in my town and see if I can find my own $55,000 treasure!!! I bet I can if I look in the highest traffic areas!!

I was going to say 63......but I think you're right.  It may have a shot at 64.  But you're right.....that coin is seriously lacking in the eye appeal department.

You can have them in you cart, but until you have checked out and "paid" for them they are not yours and are liable to be purchased by someone else.  If they have all been purchased before you are able to check out they have no more coins with which to fill your order, so you don't get them.
Having them in you cart is an indication you want them, but it is still first come first served at check out.  Unfortunately site problems kept you from getting through  before all the coins had been "served" to others.  Happens all the time on high popularity items.
And as Roger says, it doesn't make economic sense for them to expand the site capabilities to handle the massive demand that occurs for these high popularity items.

The US Mint's order acceptance system is too small for high-demand, short-term orders. The money to upgrade has to come from Congress and the dollar value of this type of order is very small and infrequent, so upgrading with capacity that will sit unused is not expedient. It was hoped that combining systems with BEP would help, but BEP rarely has large surges, to the total increased capacity was very modest.

Oh geez......that's just beautiful and worth every cent .  I wonder if it's a "Pac Man" error or if it has a "lion mark" on it as well......probably not.  Then it'd be worth $100,000!  There's a fortune to be made lurking in parking lots and staring at the ground!!!

Mohawk reacted to JKK in Is conservation or restoration worth it ?
Depends on the coin, in regard to both questions. With the first question, depends on the basic value of the issue. All the conservation in the world won't make a typical 1964 nickel worth the cost. With the second, while it will almost surely improve eye appeal, the value question is tied up with the first. If it's not worth jack on its own, it's not likely to be worth conserving.

To Quintus......thank you so much for the warm welcome back!!! I really appreciate that!!!
To Bob....it's good to be back.  It looks like a pretty good group.  Like I said, I've been lurking since July, and it appears that the "Collector" with his 1969-S "Doubled Die" Lincoln Cents and Travis Hale have left for other destinations.  Also, it seems that no one has asked about a 1977-D "Pac-Man" cent in a while.  Those factors, taken with seeing someone I could help, made it seem like the right time to come back.  As for what I've been up to, I'll be sending you a PM my friend.  Thanks for the warm welcome back as well!!

Hey, Tom. Good to see you posting again! I hope everything is going well.
There have been quite a few additions to the roster since you have been here. Some are good guys, and some...well... I will let you figure out who is who on your own.
On a personal note: how did the dissertation go? What is going on in your world these days? (we can have this conversation by PM, rather than hijack the OP's thread, or you can start an "I'm Back" thread, if you would like.)
Again - good to have you back.

To the OP......I used to be active on here a few years ago before the need to write a dissertation, get away from abusive newbies who didn't like bad news and do some soul searching caused me to leave for a bit.  I've been lurking since July, and I can help you with your coin.  Before I evolved into the Faustina the Younger coin guy I am now, I collected a lot of Ottoman coins and I can tell you what you have.  Based on the weight provided, you have a gold 100 Kurush.  It was minted during the reign of Sultan Mehmed V Reshat and the date of 1327/4 is indeed 1912, like Fenntucky Mike stated.  Your coin has 0.2127oz of gold and a melt value today of $372.61 USD.  However, it does have some collector value beyond this.  I do not feel comfortable in saying if your coin is AU or Mint State from the photos as it can be very tricky to discern high AU grades and MS grades with these coins.  The value range would range from $400 USD if it's AU up to $450 USD if it's in Mint State.  It had a mintage of 3,591,676.  However, it should be noted that there are very, very few collectors of Ottoman gold by date that I know of.  I hope that was of some help to you!
And to my old friends JKK, Just Bob, Karen Holcomb,, RWB and Revenant......sorry I disappeared for a while.  I had stuff to work out.  However, I'm glad to be back in some way if you'll have me again.

Mohawk got a reaction from KarenHolcomb in 1982 small date copper penny
It's the 1982-D Copper Small Date that is rare.  Your coin is a 1982 Philadelphia Small Date.  1982 Small Date Cents were made in large numbers in both copper and copper-plated zinc at the Philadelphia Mint.  However, all of the 1982 Small Date cents struck at the Denver Mint were supposed to be of the copper-plated zinc composition.  The 1982-D Copper Small Date is a coin that isn't supposed to exist.  However, a very small number of 1982-D Small Date cents made in the copper alloy have been found in the past few years.  These are considered a transitional error that was made due to a few copper planchets being left in the production line at the Denver Mint that were left over from earlier production of 1982-D Large Date copper cents.  To be worth anything, a 1982 Small Date cent has to have a D mint mark below the date and be made of the copper alloy.  Your coin doesn't have the D mint mark.

I love it Emi and, yes, they are very interesting people.  In my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to find a Roman Imperial in this time period who isn't interesting, which is what makes collecting the Five Good Emperors and the people connected to them so much fun!  I'd say that the closest you come to an uninteresting Roman royal for this time is probable Faustina victim Lucius Verus.  He was kind of a flat tire, at least in my opinion, but the rest are absolutely fascinating!  I love the contrast between Marcus Aurelius, who was so stoic, peaceful and and philosophically spiritual and his wife Faustina who, well.......wasn't.  She was an educated, intelligent and cultured woman, to be sure, but she also had that brutal warrior side to her, much more so than her husband.  But they loved each other in spite of these differences and had what was arguably the most normal marriage in all of Roman Imperial history.  And, Faustina's vicious side allowed her to do some of the heavy lifting for Marcus Aurelius, so he didn't have to endure such activities, which would have been much more distasteful to him and taken a higher toll on him than they would have for Faustina.  In spite of whatever else she did (the poisonings, the alleged throwing of people to wild beasts for various reasons, the angering of many Senators with her outspoken and sometimes violent nature.   But not the infidelity to Marcus Aurelius.  That does not appear to be true.  Rather, these allegations were likely made by Senators and other powerful enemies she made to discredit her and, maybe, get her out of the way.) , Faustina clearly loved him deeply to the point where she was always by his side, wherever he was and whatever had to be done there.  And she gave him 13 children, so something was definitely good in that marriage .  But Commodus seems to have certainly inherited this brutal side from Faustina and unlike her, he was unable to check it at all.  Nor did he have a partner to help him check it, like Faustina had in Marcus Aurelius.  And poor Lucilla, who was married to Verus, who has always struck me as a total *spoon*, first was betrothed to him then 4 years later, loses her Augusta status when Verus either dies of the Antonine Plague or at the hands of Lucilla's mother!  I think she was fine with losing Verus but not her status.  And apparently Faustina didn't approve of Lucilla's second marriage to a Senator (I don't recall his name off the top of my head) either, but at least she didn't kill the guy.
Sorry for the small book....Faustina is a passionate subject for me....she's so absolutely fascinating to me!  I'm so pleased to hear that you are going to add her and Lucilla to your collection Emi.  If I can help you with that in any way, don't be afraid to ask.  I always love talking ancients, clearly
