  1. You nailed it Roger. You've totally got her number right there. I couldn't have said it any better. My very existence messes with her......she's not very happy that her only child brought home a Kemetic Neopagan who is directly descended from East Germans, but she did. She'll really love the Pagan wedding, I'm sure
  2. Yeah....you wouldn't think anyone would want a collection of PO1 coins, but some people do and they're freaking dedicated, man!! I've met a few of them....interesting folks. Some of them are as hardcore as EAC fans, let me tell you. It's likely not something I would ever get involved in myself, but I can see how it would be interesting. If I saw a Canadian nickel dollar in PO1, I'd definitely find that interesting and I've sold a couple of Lowball Ikes for a nice profit over the years. The best one was a 1971-D Friendly Eagle Variety in F-12, which is about as low of a grade as you can get on that coin and still be able to discern the hallmarks of the variety and verify it as such. Any more wear on that coin, and it'd have just been a regular old 1971-D. That was a fun sale.
  3. There are Lowball Registry Sets ATS, my friend, and some of those people are hardcore. To them, PO1 is the ultimate grade and they'll fight for them in an auction. I think that's what you're seeing...a Lowball rumble.
  4. Lem E nailed it.....off center strike. Pretty cool find from circulation.
  5. Oh yeah!!! I often forget about those in the restrike discussion, but them too, definitely!! I probably forget about them because I'm not a gold guy. Do you know if mints aside from the Austrian Mint restruck the ducats like the Maria Teresa thalers, or were they just restruck by the Austrians?
  6. Wow.....at least you met two who had a sense of humor!! I've met Catholics who have been pretty chill about their religion, a lot of them actually. But my mother-in-law is definitely not one of them. I don't know if it's a symptom of the NPD or not, but she is very unpleasant on most topics, but her religion most of all. She uses it to sanction some pretty bad attitudes toward people.
  7. Yes, indeed. There are many, many restrikes of the Maria Teresa thalers. From mints all over the world, not just Austria. Though Austria has made more than their fair share, for sure.
  8. I never have, actually. And I never want to. I don't do zealot well at all. They frighten me.
  9. It kind of sounds like what the German mints do from time to time. They'll restrike older and rarer coins but date them somewhere on the coin with the date it was actually struck. They're actually coins of the stated denomination...they're struck by the official Mints in the original materials, but often in a modern proof finish. Here's an example:
  10. If the guy did it in the Byzantine Empire, he likely would have been.
  11. This is true. I'm guessing young, male and stupidly bored.
  12. Hello and Welcome Jas! Well, your coin was definitely damaged. There's no way that happened during the minting process. In looking at the photos, I think it was a 1942 before someone decided to destroy the date for some reason. Your coin is only worth silver value, sadly. I wish the news was better!
  13. Nope. Catholic. Extremist zealot, bigoted, conspiracy theory reading, believing and spouting Catholic. Who is a malignant narcissist on top of all the rest of that. She's a real party.
  14. No, but that would actually be an improvement over what she does do. She's a malignant narcissist and a religious whack-a-doodle. I'd take some urine soaked shoes over that, honestly.
  15. I wish I could zinc plate my mother-in-law.
  16. I agree with Woods....I think it was spooned. As such, it's just post minting damage which adds no value to the coin.
  17. That's pretty laughable in terms of a Morgan, I must say. However, I like the reverse eagle.....it's got a modern German Bundesadler feel to it....take away the IGWT, replace that CC with an A, D, F, G or J, put some German inscriptions on there and remove the wreath and you'd be all set:
  18. Excellent. That is good news. No one needs to buy an 1888-CC Morgan Dollar.
  19. Hi Clay!! Well, your photos of the obverse are a bit blurry, but I do not see anything that looks unusual to me about your cent. It looks like a regular 1958 Wheat Cent to me from the photos.
  20. Hi Lisae!! Welcome the the forum! Well, I'm with the others....your coin is definitely plated. It's something that's done in a lot of high school and college undergrad chemistry classes. We actually did it in my chemistry class in my junior year of high school....there were silver cents floating around for weeks after that!
  21. Oh that's just AMAZING Hog!!! I know what the fiancée and I are watching in bed tonight . Would you believe that I still have my Stripe action figure from when I was a child? I totally do. He lives on my work desk.
  22. I forgot to mention that I was an early starter, too. I found a 1947 Maple Leaf Canadian Small Cent in my change from the school cafeteria when I was eight and then I was off to the races......
  23. That's a very cool medal, James. I dig it. And I'm hoping Bob is right that the medal is just to commemorate 25 years of service....someone dying that young is just way too sad.
  24. I'm waiting for a West German silver 5 Mark with a Berlin or Muldenhutten mint mark myself. Maybe if I watch Etsy long enough, it'll happen!! Who knows? If I watch Etsy long enough, I might be able to get a 1974-CC West German 5 Mark to go with your 1921-CC Morgan. On Etsy, all things are possible.......
