I’m fairly certain josh (the OP) got an answer for the request. I see nothing in the responses that should be taken personally, the responses were of the coin not the poster. You can’t let the two meld together. The sarcasm is meant in humor and from an understanding of the processes.
so josh keep sending in the ? value questions if you got ‘em. I know in the end of all responding, you will have your factual answer, most responses here extending from the knowledge of years of experience. Learn from all responses.
I would suggest also that you utilize the NGC Price Guide under the resources tab for further verification. -

No. If a coin has a diameter greater than the space between the inner and outer drums it could never get in a vertical position, no matter where it is. It's physically impossible since it just wont fit in the smaller space. That's why it's just not possible for a "dryer coin" to have edges mashed in like a "spooned" coin.
Only if it could be gradually jammed into a smaller space, which it cant with a commercial dryer that has a fixed space between the drums. In the upsetting machine the space starts out greater than the diameter and is reduced to press in the edges and create a rim.
The following is from the mint's webpage on "Coin Production":
What do you think @Hoghead515, having just rebuilt your dryer, how many places can a coin come into contact with moving parts after leaving the rotating drum or between stationary and moving.

I would think that the damage caused by commercial dryers with an inner and outer drum heated to much higher temperatures would be different. And the ones I have seen reported to be from those commercial dryers, including coins from repair persons asking if they were worth anything and also referenced on reputable sites like error-ref.com, do look different.
The coins reported to be from commercial dryers appear to have less individual or deep scratches and have a more "mushy" appearance, like the attached example from error-ref.com. I am wondering if maybe the coins posted above may have already been scratched, but still something different and interesting. Where those from a "Parking Lot" collection that you left in your pocket?
https://www.error-ref.com/dryer-coins/
However, the part I don't buy is when coins that have edges pushed in like "spooned" coins are suggested to have come from being jammed and squeezed between the inner and outer drums of a commercial dryer.
While it's possible for a coin to occasionally roll around edgewise on these drums, it would be impossible to go from a flatwise position to end up in a vertical position jammed between the drums pushing in on the edges. It just wouldn't fit to begin with.
What if the coin were to be on the end, not the side. Would it tumble/roll the edge of the coin to the outer drum?

It broke down and I had to put new rollers, a front cloth bearing, and a belt in it. To my suprise when I took it apart it was full of change. It had $13.35 of just clad coins in the bottom. I didnt count the cents but, there was probably over a dollar worth of them. My old lady hasnt been cleaning out pockets very well it seems.
Most of the coins were unaffected but there were a few that got caught in the tumbler and flattened out the rims and smoothed the surface down. I threw them all in a very large change jug and found a few. There was a dime that was very neat. it wore down quite a bit. I couldnt find it. It was buried in quite a bit of change. Maybe when i go to roll it up ill be able to spot it again. But there were a few coins that got completely mutilated. They look like parking lot coins now. I never knew a dryer would do that kind of damage. Here is the pics for those interested. Seems several new collectors are interested in damage these days. Maybe these pics will help them.
I appreciate this post, one for sharing the info and 2, having taken on this same dryer overhaul a couple of times, understand that it is a bigger job than most can imagine. (Did not find coins)
it’s to bad that while you had it tore down you could not have built a catch pan/tray to just pull from time to time to collect the eBay and Etsy treasures your dryer produces…lol.

I had to chuckle at @Sandon and @J P M ‘s post.
I’ve never, ever been in a coin shop. The nearest one to me is about 115 miles. The idea of junk shopping in a coin shop seems like a waste of travel time. Lol.
With that said, I have never bought or paid a single penny for “A” nickel. I have to settle for the acquired street urchins like I posted here.
thanks for the chuckle. -

Hopefully the OP, Josh isn’t offended by this pun or stretch/play of the Id used in their post? (joshin ?) or take it as neg accusation of intent. 🤔
it will be interesting to hear @Joshk1990‘s response to all of this. I for one vote that it will be, “all is good”
