Nice coin for your collection.

Sorry to say, it looks like it took a hard hit. That is why there is extra metal on the reverse it has been pushed up. A clip would have less metal near the edge.

Ride Sally Ride. This coin has been ridden hard and smacked with something tougher than itself.

I live on a Island. High humidity and sulfur marsh everywhere. Some days it smells like egg salad everywhere. Ya my coins will most likely tone more than others. I do what I can to help them out but there is no guarantee.

Ya Midwest Dozer, I agree with Mike it looks a bit off to me.

Strange things can happen with copper. I have seen many different types of toning on coins. The dime on the left was found in the center of a roll of copper shield cents. Was it toned from being in the same roll or did someone think it was a copper cent and just threw it in the batch of cents to be rolled? There are some questions we will never know the answers to.

The most likely cause must ALWAYS be the case. All these are discolored on BOTH sides, hence ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE. Please, for Gawd’s sake, STOP IT WITH THESE ERROR REPORTS!!!!
LoL ..I have some coins like this ...maybe it is just toned guys .. Not all the facts are present. The op has not even given us a weight of the dime.

Welcome Elcangri482 Yes, it is a tough hobby to jump into. I think you will find there are some who are very seasoned and set in their ways.
Everyone on this site are collectors and volunteer their time to help new members whenever posable. There are times when it can get frustrating when we see the same bad coins day after day.
Do not be too quick to judge those by what you read in type there is no emotion in letters on a screen.

LoL.. Some of the most knowledgeable numismatics in the country have already commented on your coin, whether you are aware or not.

I'm new to the hobbie. So I'm going to send 4 coins there going to be proof Penny's. My question is how do I make shure I put down the fare market value of the coin? I think they should be pr 70 ,but the red book only goes to pr 65. I'm terrified I will fail to put down the right value.
I find that new members that join NGC feel they must take advantage of their discounts on having coins graded. I like Sandon and Eagle and many others think you must learn to walk the walk before you run the race.

Thanks. I tend to like die cracks myself a little bit.
Here is my double spike. I think it was a rim to rim but had worn off due to circulation. If you hold it in the light you can see where it went across the side of his head.

There is an unasked question here about why there are so many uncirculated 1776-1976 quarters from San Francisco. There WERE lots and lots sold.
1) It was the ONLY way to get an uncirculated 1776-1976-S.
2) The three coin set was VERY affordable, much cheaper than the Mint sells ANYTHING these days.
3) There was no mintage limit, and they were available for a VERY long time.
I can drive to the nearest coin shop and but any set to this day.

I agree it looks like a torch job making bubbles on both sides.
