  1. Tough one tj Casino 1995 okay what about this? Even tougher
  2. The first thing I noticed was that it wasn’t marked copy, which there are numerous numbers of. The one reference to it was Bonhams and I don’t want you to get excited about it before you find out if it is authentic, but the coin sold for $44,000 ! https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21868/lot/1505/ my advice get it authenticated !
  3. JP what is that wavy thing on the right side of the obverse? Looks like a pie crust.
  4. JP doesn’t matter to me I just wanted a full set of type 2 S coins.
  5. It reminded me that I gave up a bunch of ASEs during the purge I had at least ten of the first years proofs including the vaunted 86. Oh well I won’t do that again hopefully. I just put together my own 1981s Type 2 collection in a capital holder.
  6. That satin finish is unique besides being. A 68FS
  7. At one time JP I had the entire set up until about 7 years ago. I did a purge and those proofs went away. Now I have but three. The first Sacajawea and the 2021 military honoree one. Just one Pres coin Jefferson. Those first ones, as you may recall were accused of not having “In God We Trust” on them until people figured out they were edge incused.
  8. According to the comments people are jumping all over this.
  9. JP stay safe and do hunker down. I can’t imagine being on Cape cod during these storms. Do you lose power often? Happy coin roll hunting. Maybe you’ll find an impressive coin, as usual and that will take the edge off of the bad weather!
  10. Here is a totally new trap. Numistmatist web site selling gold half eagle for $29 RIGHT, they show an PGCS Vf35 gold half eagle of which the number verifies on PGCS but you know it’s gotta be a new innovative way to scam counterfeits. Just a heads up. I reported the ad as suspicious-
  11. agree with the guys above. Just store them away. Its a first year design change so ultimately it may be worth more and if silver price goes up that too.
  12. Awesome I am always happy when someone makes a cool find!
  13. Thanks RWB! I should have realized that by the dorky web site name! already re-rolled it and it has a return trip to the bank.
  14. Coinbuf you said it looked legit. Im not going to spring for it. Like you said, I'll wait for a graded example.
  15. It probably only wishful thinking But I was CRHing and found this 2019 P Roosevelt Dime, It seems to have many of the characteristics of the Wexler variation. https://markedmoney.tech/tag/wexlers-coin-die-varieties/ Would you guys check this out for me? TIA First pic is the Wexler variation photo from the link above. The rest are of my dime.
  16. The first is an 1979-S the second is an 1981-S Im putting together a 1981 S type 2 proof set and want to be sure before I encapsulate it
  17. Welcome to the forum. Sorry about your Father and to hear of your need as well. yes if you are going to analyze the collection you should get a newer RedBook. I use a microscope I purchased from Amazon for $28 and a (strongly suggested stand). $21 the scope has a built in wifi that you attach the iPad to and download an app for the camera. It’s wireless and has a USB charging cable with it. The app lets you take still and video pictures and save them to your device. pictures below. You father must have been somewhat serious if he was buying mint bags and rolls. If you don’t want to spend the time, looking at coin values do not sell them for melt! If you are intending to sell them make sure you have an American Numismatic Association dealer evaluate them. Of course you can always post clear cropped pictures here for some excellent knowledge. finally rule of thumb if the coin is worth $150 it is worth grading and associated costs NGC or PCGS if you have an iPhone you can use you camera with a 50% zoom at about 4 inches parallel to the coin and the photo editor to crop it nicely. Example attached.
  18. This is/was an 1883 Liberty Head nickel that looks to be in decent condition. And this version is “dumb” as it has no “cents” . An MS coin, according to PCGS is about $80 however because it has been gold plated and encased it is not worth much but I would hang on to it maybe put it in a coin capsule. Most likely there was a nub that was removed that was a necklace stem.
