very beautiful coins!
Thanks Neo. Of course, the nickel was the first one to catch my eye, but the quarter is definitely the standout of the group.

I've come back three times to re-examine the bicentennial quarter... is it just me or, under close examination encapsulation, notwithstanding, do the legends and mottoes appear to v-i-b-r-a-t-e ?
Probably from the drumroll.

Nice acquisitions, all. I want you to level with me, since I've never had an MS-69, anything, were you at all curious to find out exactly what the culprit was that resulted in the one-point deficit on the quarter?
Thanks QA. There are 2 very light marks in the fields and one on the neck on the obverse of the quarter.

I decided instead of taking up a bunch of room on the new acquisition thread, I would just post these on their own. I was able to make a bundle purchase from a dealer I work with a lot for these coins. (Thanks Ken) I am not really sure what the PENDERGRAFT COLLECTION is but, I am happy to be able to acquire these pieces from it. I apologize in advance for the glare on the photos. These were very difficult for me to photograph.

I posted the seller pics of this coin in the new acquisition thread a few days ago. I received it in the mail yesterday and I was very pleased. The tone on this coin is phenomenal. The colors are very rich and vibrant. Even these pics lighten the coin up more than it is in hand. Very deep. I really like this one. Can’t wait to get it to Joe and let him work his magic.

I’ll allow it. Carry on gentlemen.

Very nice pieces. Thanks for posting them. What prompted you to dig them out after all of these years?

Pretty worn out for sure.

Congrats on the accomplishment Bill. I don’t really see why you would have to do anything with your set. If it were me, I would just keep them as is and intact. Maybe if the coins were being compromised in the original packaging then something may have to be done. ( I am referring to the collection itself. The storage situation may be something to think about.) I would say you are prime for a new project goal. What’s next?

For that coin I don’t think I can be too picky. Full steps are not a deal breaker for this one. It is just one of those hard to find coins for me. I think the hunt is the best part of collecting and filling that slot will be very gratifying when the right one comes along.

LemE saw this on Ebay
Thanks Bill for keeping an eye out for me. I do appreciate it. Unfortunately, this is a Denver coin. I’m looking for a San Fran mint. I am afraid if I do find one it may be out of my budget. I did see one in a PCGS holder in a MS-67 FS on Angel Dees website, but the price tag was a bit out of reach for me at $7500. We will see if that slot ever gets filled.

NEWPS - 1970 PROOF SET PIECES
in US, World, and Ancient Coins
Posted
I did a little digging when I acquired these pieces. I was also curious to see if I could find the companion coins to this set. I found that this particular collector had a custom set on Collectors Society which contained 2 1970 proof sets. (10 coins) Unfortunately there were no pictures and the last activity on the set was back in 2014. I happened to run across one of the Kennedy half dollars that sold at GC. I’m not sure if it came from the same set that my new coins are from or the other set. I would like to see what the other coins look like myself. Here is a link to the Kennedy.
