For sure!  I have yet to send a submission that did not have one or two coins that left me saying what the heck.   Like you I usually see the light after I give the coins that fail (at least the ones that were not 50/50 shot coins) a real good going over, but there always seems to one or two that I just cannot figure out why they failed.   And coincidentally they are very often Washington quarters, I cannot grade those suckers for anything.

Yes no new memberships. And my last submission took over a month. Unlike the TPGs they usually have a 5 day turnaround. They are just swamped.

As coinbuf offered I can submit for you also, but I am being forced into changing my membership to a dealer. So no free tries at it for me.

This is a sound strategy it seems to me. At 10% and a healthy portfolio you are doing things the right way. The 10% PMs won’t see the gains or losses of the other investments, but it’s hard to argue that having a small amount as part of a larger strategy is a bad idea.

Alabama has a lot of “warts” for this Pennsylvania guy, but I swear my favorite thing is no state lottery, hence no stupid lottery ads. But the news does put the winning Georgia and Tennessee numbers on a crawl at the bottom of the screen. Can’t have everything.
Least favorite thing? Still deciding between a corrupt bench and bar, and the crummy drivers. If I suddenly stop posting, it’s likely I was taken out by an Alabama driver. And THESE are the “rocket scientist” Alabamians. I genuinely fear for @Woods020’s life downstate.

Don't hold me to it, but I think that they appeared in an auction without fanfare. And that more than one dealer quickly recognized them as something out of the ordinary.

Roger I’m sure you saw the recent article in coinweek on the Saudi Gold. Ironically I saw the first one in the wild for sale this week. Ugly critters but a neat story.

Woods020 got a reaction from GoldFinger1969 in Can we add PCGS graded coins to our Registry collections?
I do not believe NGC will allow PCGS graded foreign coins in their registry. US coins yes, but unless it has changed very recently no on foreign. With that said I am not a foreign collector so it may have changed.

I know a super nice dealer there, but he doesn't have a shop. He does coins shows. He is a retired teacher and one of the nicer guys I know that deals. But I don't think that would do you any good since he doesn't have a shop.

Here is my 1936 Brilliant Buffalo proof, and I do not see loss of detail myself. What am I missing? I surely agree about the deep mirroring as this is one of the most deeply mirrored proofs I have seen. I just do not see loss of detail, but I could be wrong.

I’m not aware of tell tale markers on a 26-s like the keys. Never heard of a counterfeit one. But it makes sense if you are a counterfeiter to find a better date worth your time but with less scrutiny potentially.

Here is a page copy of the price guide in the NGC explorer page for the 1897-O Morgan dollar.   This coin is a better date and very expensive in the mint state grades, however your coin is very far from mint state.   Your photos are not good enough to say for sure if the coin has been cleaned, but they are good enough to say with certainty that your coin will not grade better than XF and a details grade is very possible due to the rim dings.   As you can see below the NGC price guide for a straight grade XF is $70, it will cost you $40-$50 to have it graded by NGC or PCGS (ANACS is a much cheaper option).  If you lucked out and it straight grades you might come out ahead by perhaps $20 or $30 after the costs to have it graded and if you are able to sell it for full retail.   It seems a very big gamble for an iffy $30 payday but that is your choice to make.   Eddited to add:  As I type this there are 7 XF40 1897-O Morgan dollars for sale on eBay, priced from a realistic $68 to a very hopeful $140.   1897 O $1 MS Last updated 05/19/2021   BASE  PrAg G VG F VF XF 50 53 55 58 60 61 62 63 64 $40 $45 $47 $50 $52 $70 $90 $120 $180 $375 $1100 $1375 $2000 $4350 $12500
