Sorry Woods, I didn’t mean to turn this into an IOM thread - which could easily happen.
Nice website and inventory. I look forward to seeing more, along with some foreign coins.
    good luck.

Will do. Be patient with me please I'm new with all this. I need to learn how all this works. Sorry for all the disorganization. I'll get better when I find someone to help with all this.

The OP must not be confident, possibly wanting someone to make an offer. This is a very easy variety to recognize and all he needs to do is post better pics. But I assume at this point that the bad pics may have been strategic considering the radio silence.

Agreed. I think true mint errors are an interesting part of numismatics, and I have nothing but respect for those specialists. What I cannot stand is the current madness around superficial or concocted errors. All the state quarters with cutesy names with youtube videos pumping up their rarity for example. They turn a simple small die break that is just a common as dirt occurrence into the spectacular. If they would look at dimes for the last few years they would have a heart attack and think they hit the jackpot because it seems the majority have die breaks. A true error specialist would also laugh at that. What bothers me most is the vim and vigor that this group of new collectors believes in the validity. I really think it is very harmful to this hobby. If they want to collect errors, then collect errors. This is poised to turn away a bunch of collectors from the hobby when reality sets in, and I think we have a duty to at least educate them. If that is what they want to do fine, but it should be done from a place of knowledge and understanding not delusions of grandeur.

This impaired proof that was likely found in circulation that started this thread is a prime example. Instead it has to become a strike through or a die scratch. Logically the two things can not even be possibilities. Why do so many insist on making the mundane rare in some way? I just don't get it.

That is not a Cheerios coin, it is just a regular business strike.
If you are going to post photos of more coins, make sure each is in it’s own post with an explanation of what you are seeing.
You have posted photos of other coins without saying what your question is

This was a very generous giveaway. I would not have guessed whizzed by these pics myself, but we all know pics are difficult to work from. The surfaces do not appear that smooth to me. This is where having the coin in hand to see the cartwheel, or lack thereof, would be very helpful.Regardless a nice coin for a giveaway.

I have seen a lot of adult themed silver rounds recently. Some are adult, and some are XXX. I guess they try anything to create a premium on a silver round.

Now, if you had a pile of 1792 half dismes sitting on your desk along with that pile of 1796 quarters, the story might be different.

No, and not that you asked, but the OP’s coin is merely a scratched impaired proof. The scratches are literally EVERYWHERE - on the fields and even on the HIGHEST relief of the bison. It’s purely a damaged coin. Error “fanbois” must NEVER be used as reliable sources. This mania over errors is literally insane.

Those things are everywhere! Nothing but a novelty item or a gag gift, there's probably people that collect them though.  I'd like to see that custom registry set.

Proof is a method of manufacture. And condition, including spots, has nothing to do with that.

Atleast the 76 set isn’t hazy. A ton of them are. But I think aside from that you will waste money doing anything other than enjoying them in original packaging. I can not overstate how common those mint and proof sets are, and most people can’t get someone to buy them. Planning to invest any more in them won’t do anything but throw good money after bad. Just enjoy them

I think you should start with Isle of Man coinage and tokens.  Let me know when you find some unique pieces.  My budget is shattered right now from banknotes but will eventually recoup.

Thanks gentleman. Mike world coinage is my next area to dive into. I’m in the reading and learning what in the heck I am doing stage. I refuse to be a coin flipper and not know what I am selling. So I have some learning to do to get into world, but I plan to get there.

I am constantly tweaking the site to make it more user friendly. It probably won’t look exactly the same any two times you log in for a while. I will not be taking up web development as a career that much I know 😂.
