Only 213 have been graded PR70DCAM at PCGS. Sorry I don’t know anyone in Denver who could help you.

Good. Start with one. But I predict this coin will have trouble getting PF69. A 67-68 is more likely.

Good luck with your coin Kevine. I have a few of these proof sets. I like them as is and what VKurtB said it is not likely you will get a high grade and it may cost more to grade it than the coin will be worth in the end.

The perspective that I have makes it all good.

These are from an estate sale

I got 90 Proof coin sets and 80 m I nt coin sets. Not all years but 70-90 weighted. The mint sets are represented in the middle by this coin.  Definitely some better.

I also got e rolls unc  Morgan's with an 1879cc and 3-4 more cc ND a slew of S,O AND p mints.  A really interesting penny roll 1909s and Vdb enders. A 1924p Peace dollar roll, 6 Erly 60's mint set Canada rolls and more

My Allocated coin cost all in puts me at sub-$1 per coin.

The Unicorns are huge wins. And most of the FT, FS FBL coins are high grade because there are just no "bad sets" unless you think the ones I put up are bad.

So hearing that this is less than anticipated is fine because there are other better coins other coins. Dates, errors and varieties

Today is my birthday. I feel blessed.

Full steps doesn’t apply on both SMS and proofs. It is assumed because of the way they are manufactured. Same with full bands, full bell lines, etc.  It only applies to business strike coins. All of your mint and proof sets are common sets with as expected coins.

Show us pictures of the roll of 1909-S VDBs and the roll of 1879 CC Morgans. I would love to see those.

Not clear to my why Kevine84 is upset. He is not saying he got a roll of 1879-CC dollars from an estate sale, but several Unc rolls which included one 1879-CC, plus 3 or 4 other CCs and a mixture of other mints and dates. The cent roll resembles made-up rolls sold on ebay with a 1909-S on one end and a 1909-P VDB on the other -- misc stuff in between.

If the OP will ask questions and maybe post photos of some of the coins mentioned, members will likely be glad to help.

PS: The Eisenhower dollar in the photos appears to have small marks here and there, so it would not make Unc-70 and possibly not 69.

It is almost impossible to identify 69 or 70 coins from photos. Difficulties relate to plastic holders, dust specks that are not part of the coin and small defects that don't show in a single photo. Posting a lot of photos rarely helps.

I think what you want to know is: Do these coins have defects that would clearly prevent 69 or 70 grades AND does independent grading add enough market value to make the coins profitable if sold or traded?

To me, the coins pictured so far seem typical of original mint products.

Yup. Typical. Not extraordinary. How much experience does the OP possess? It matters. Among all the other superlatives, an EXTREME amount of contrast is needed to get a 70.

The Ike's pictured in the OP appear to be 1976, T1 clad proofs. 27 graded PR70 DCAM at PCGS out of 22,029. A 0.12% average. The odds of any of those Ike's grading PR70 DCAM ain't good, the 22k+ already graded by PCGS came out of mint sets identical to those pictured. The numbers at NGC are even bleaker.

Sounds like a good haul from the estate sale. Believe me, there is nothing I would like more than for you to post a PR70 DCAM after submitting one of these but I'm not holding my breath. Good luck.(thumbsu

Atleast the 76 set isn’t hazy. A ton of them are. But I think aside from that you will waste money doing anything other than enjoying them in original packaging. I can not overstate how common those mint and proof sets are, and most people can’t get someone to buy them. Planning to invest any more in them won’t do anything but throw good money after bad. Just enjoy them

Kevin,

Lets slow down and regroup. Let’s take one thing at a time. Create new posts for each new coin or set that you have. It gets garbled if we bring in too many things into one as we see now. This post has established a few things:

1. Your 76 proof set seems to be average, and it is highly unlikely that your Ike dollar will hit 70. I say impossible.

2. Full steps and other full anything only apply to circulation coins. Proofs and SMS it doesn’t apply because they are assumed to be well struck with good dies.

3. Proof and mint sets, with the exception of 1936-1942, and the early 1950s, are extremely common. Hundreds of millions were made and they are common as dirt. People buy the later silver ones (pre 1965) for the silver content. Anything after 1965 is truly as common as anything in numismatics.

4. Your proof and mint sets appear to be average, and with the very modern stuff there is almost no differentiation between good and bad. Quality control is so good its splitting hairs. Yours are just like all the other hundreds of millions.

5. Because they are not special grading any of it would be a total waste of money. You would spend much more in grading fees and memberships than the final product would be worth.

Additionally you are putting all of your focus on the mundane, when you say you bought better stuff. The cents and Morgans are what you should focus on. Post pics and ask questions on those and it may be worth your time.

Now you bring up additional questions like proof error coins now. If you believe you have an error start a new post with good pictures and ask your question. We are happy to help, but help us help you.

PS: Your photos are better than those posted by most new collectors. Take your time, ask questions and to stay organized.  :)
