@MowhawkI haven’t had any come apart I just made switch last year … they seal good for me , I like to put my coins in the next biggest holder I’ll put a nickel in a quarter holder , I like to see the edges of the coins, also it makes it easier to poke a hole in plastic with a toothpick and pop the coin out take a picture or handle it or whatever then put it new holder simple and easy … no digging staples out or anything like that

If anyone wants keep dust out of their 2x2 coins in binder I’ve seen a collector once keep all his 2x2 in archival binder looked like a box type binder . Someday I might transfer all my 2x2 to archival binder it’s fully enclosed I always hated 2x2 flips when they slip out of the pages sometime had Keep tape on upper page to hold coins in place … I use BCW Peel and seal 2X2s I don’t use staple type 2X2s anymore the archival binder looks like this . https://www.adorama.com/fsbbk.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwj8eJBhA5EiwAg3z0m37WGZaZp_eukMl-22GyQWR3jBnysuhHxqriW1Jg29m79dQA4MCFUBoCtXIQAvD_BwE&gclid=CjwKCAjwj8eJBhA5EiwAg3z0m37WGZaZp_eukMl-22GyQWR3jBnysuhHxqriW1Jg29m79dQA4MCFUBoCtXIQAvD_BwE&utm_source=adl-gbase-p

Anyone ordering coins overseas ?
Jason Abshier replied to Jason Abshier's topic in US, World, and Ancient Coins
It wasn’t FedEx , Germany mostly uses DHL service , sometimes their service is quick other times it takes 3 weeks at the most . But lately it been taking over 30 days I contacted the seller they said it’s way it is with DHL sometimes , I contacted DHL they contacted me back as soon as coin got to USA in New York they wrote whole email in German couldn’t even read it … lol! But what was weird the coin was shipped to DHL July/28th they showed me shipping invoice Aug/8th it was handed over to international logistics (I am assuming it was on plane flight to USA?) I haven’t heard or seen where that package been since Aug/30th I got email it was in New York processing center it’s on way now weirdly it winded up in New Jersey (I live in Pennsylvania) right now the package went down to N.C !!!! Now it’s on its way to Maryland coming back up towards me … USPS is another headache of its own I’ll probably get them after Labor Day -

A little Peace dollar challenge
Jason Abshier replied to RWB's topic in US, World, and Ancient Coins
What gets me this seller been selling wizzed and polished coins for a while this year alone this seller made over 2,000+ sales positives only 2 negatives within 12 months .. I can’t believe over 20 bids been made on a Junk coin basically damage ! How is it even possible someone can sell junk like that on eBay are people really that bad at seeing the damage, flaws , grading done to a crappy coin? I find it hard to believe .. this seller even said if “anyone has feedback of 10 they will be removed from bidding” … What’s a matter afraid the new guy “bidder” won’t pay for the crappy coins ? Guess the seller doesn’t like being ripped off but they don’t mind ripping off someone else with whizzed and polished coins -

Who ever has intention buying that coin after winning the bid stay tuned we’ll be seeing a new member on here soon “hey you guys ! I’m newbie whatta think about my new peace dollar ? I remember my grandpappy used have a collection of them“ then went you tell them the problem with their coin, they may or may not take it so well and choose to fight back. Just stay tuned -
Anyone ordering coins overseas ?
Jason Abshier replied to Jason Abshier's topic in US, World, and Ancient Coins
I was browsing around in MA-shop just looking other day I saw few dealers who said coins would take up to 30-days for shipment … How hard is it to put it on plane fly it over ? Neighboring countries don’t have that problem shipping is normal , I think it DHL carrier service over there in Germany real crappy service … I’ve never had a coin hang up in customs , I had friend once order a coin from Netherlands it got hung up in customs came to him in mail with green tape on it but the coin was still in there they open his package took coin out “manhandled” it put it back in package sealed it with green tape it been inspected … odd ! -

Anyone ordering coins overseas ?
Jason Abshier replied to Jason Abshier's topic in US, World, and Ancient Coins
@gmarguliI won a few auction coins at beginning of year from Cgbfr.com had coin at my door within 48 hrs no lie . It was like my neighbor actually flew overnight to get them for me , scary fastest shipping I ever saw came through FedEx though … July I ordered some coins from a German dealer they came in within a 10 days , at end of July I ordered a few Weimar Republic 3 mark commemorative type coins on July 26th , guess what they just touch New York distribution center this morning Aug 30th finally moving along to my house ! I thought they got lost in mail or stuck in customs or something , but seller insured them (they oughta after spending over $800+ on 3 high grade coins) so my money was guaranteed back , but still I’d rather have the coins … last year I didn’t order too much from Germany but one order hung up for 3 weeks no information where it was what it was doing nothing … Then all sudden I got email it was moving through USPS on my way to my home … I think it might be DHL shipping services crappy or something -
Lately most of all my coins overseas that I’ve order have been slow as a snail with shipping especially Europe and Germany (very slow in Germany) I’ve heard some collectors waiting up to 2 full months for coins to be shipped … most I’ve had to wait was 34 days ! Few years back before Covid everything shipped within a week or so . 2020/2021 been bad year for collectors who buy Numismatists items overseas in certain places

Someone will bite bullet and shell out the cash, there’s always that somebody who just has to have it now, registry builders will buy it quickly just to get in their registries , that I can why. Otherwise theres nothing wrong with plain Jane raw bullion just to have in your collecting to look at and forget all about hyped up 70 grade market -

Market grading , he sends a lot in that keeps grading companies busy in a favor return they give him a bunch 70’s …. All 70 grade is market hype grading nothing else, if anyone believes there is some magic behind 70 grade ? I feel bad for them , so be it … the 70 grade is becoming more and more common now -
@Hoghead515do you have kids too ? Years and years ago when my kids were little it was hard for me to buy nicer coins , I hated Christmas after Christmas 5 birthdays came in a row Jan, feb, March , April , may . Then my anniversary in June . Before I knew it Christmas was just about around corner again I was working 2 jobs back then too paying mortgage and car payment and putting food on the table . My kids are all grown up and out of the house except my daughter she 19 going on 20 … I’m able to collect the coins I want now … Hang in there ! when my wife looks at baby pictures she always asked me if I miss the kids being babies ? I replied back “lady I don’t miss the baby making days , it was a pure torture on my hobby life”

@gmargulithanks for explaining that to me . I don’t collect specimen or pattern pieces or off struck metal pieces (they sure are unique and interesting) but over the years I was always confused by the three but learned they are category of their own … On few other coin forums some collectors said they are same thing makes it confusing …I figure they weren’t nothing the same otherwise the grading company wouldn’t be grading them like that

Well @Woods020I’m working on my raw set of German Baden state kreuzers coinage this year … I’m looking for Unc. to Gem (MS62-MS65) raw condition. Which I highly doubt you’ll find here in USA (but let me know if you see any) , I’m getting a little annoyed with having buy my coins directly from Germany the shipping sometimes is fast (1 week) then the shipping is super slow (whole month) I’ve seen a snail move faster my list below 1/2 Kreuzers KM#241 (years 1859-1871) 1 Kreuzers KM#242 (years 1859-1871) 3 Kreuzers KM#211 (silver years 1841-1856) 6 Kreuzers KM#210 (silver years 1839-1856)

@MohawkMy wife is pretty easy going too . Between coin collecting and Gun collecting she never complained or questioned me about my hobbies. Thanks goodness my wife had her own hobbies with her friends, she not really into jewelry either. She spend a lot on rare exotic plants some of the plants cost a couple hundred dollars for a single plant … if my wife was ever to complain ? I’ll start complaining back at her about the plants ! Our house looks like a jungle inside probably a good 300-400 plants in here and down in basement in green house she built she sells some too sometimes her plants takes up more room than my coin collection vault and my gun vault so there have it she knows better not to complain
