  1. Germany Third Reich …1940-A 5 pfennig “Reichskreditkassen” military occupation money iron or zinc always turns dark color !! This one looks like it been coated in light dap mineral oil to keep it from rusting
  2. PCGS grades world coins as well so does ANACS and ICG … I have more PCGS German coins and medals than I do NGC but NGC does have more of data base for wide wide range of world coins and ancients … PCGS won’t grade ancients that I know of due to true authenticity behind ancients
  3. They probably want paperwork to back it up , a lot Chinese fakes floating around if they feel it’s suspicious or looks off they will question authenticity of the coin meaning they are unsure or they are sure this is not Real ! You can thanks Chinese for all fakery stuff they do to our hobby on daily basic … NGC /PCGS does do a pretty good job at nailing down fake coins … not saying your coin is fake , but they want some paperwork. Backing it up proving this is indeed a pattern coin you claim it to be … I’m sure someone else will chime in on this matter
  4. I seldomly buy coins on eBay any more , do most of my buying and bidding through auction houses … I do occasionally bid on coins from time to time I might win 2-3 coins from eBay for whole year … I’ve purchased other stuff like numismatic books and so on never had a problem with shipping it’s linked to PayPal account , I’ve won two John S. Davenport German taler catalog books for my numismatic book collection both of them just came in the mail today no problems … thanks for heads up I’ll keep an eye on my future orders on eBay
  5. Some I agree with what you’re saying … I’m all for helping new people, only if they are willing to meet me half way and take in good advice about hobby … on daily basic we have people popping up with so called “error” coins they believe are errors because YouTube video told them so … why would they all sudden pop up on NGC chat forums ? I believe some older member on here have grown tired and grumpy of daily stuff that goes on in these forums …. You’re correct we can do better for some on here , I treat every new person on here with a welcome and little advice about coin or subject they are asking about …. However it usually turns out to be you can’t tell them anything they have their mind setup they are sending the coin in for grading or such …. However few newbies have posted some interesting finds like the other day like the Close “AM” Lincoln cent variety that a newbie found I would say who been listening to good advice on here did any of the other Newbies chime in to learn ? Not really ! So I can see why some on here are grumpy sometimes when some new folks just don’t want sit down and be patience , learn and listen to what long time contributors are saying on here
  6. All my dream would come true if that were to happen … I highly doubt we would ever achieve that , internet has ruined to hobby with misinformation to its rotten core ! I’m surprised some long members on here stick around to this day to constantly tell people they have parking lot coin …. I would like hear from grading company as well how many fools actually send in parking lot coins ? I’m sure it’s high !!! The future of this hobby is bright !!! Full of new bright minded people who don’t want to learn ….
  7. Finally added a German empire 1909-F (stuttgart mint) “25 Pfennig” KM#18 to my collection for long time I wanted one in a PROOF which is very scarce to find … After little negotiating with a German dealer overseas we finally agreed on a price… The airtite is dirty in pictures this coin is actually spotless !!! Bright mirrors it’s hard to say how many of these proofs really exist from each mint in Germany
  8. Too hard to get a very good estimate . Even sales of US mint only counts toward US collectors , big world out there collectors from every corner not all about collecting USA mint or coinage from US …can’t do estimate how many people attend the shows not really accurate either … bidding platforms aren’t accurate as well with dealers and collectors both bidding … members on here is either a hit and miss ,there may be a lot older collectors don’t use internet and chat forums that are not accounted for, guess nobody really knows answer to that one I’d say out of 333 million in USA alone I’d say probably 1-2% probably does some form of collecting Numismatic wise
  9. I’m not like everyone else you’re claiming on here …. My advice would be from one collector to a newbie collector stop looking at pocket change for little imperfections (which is normal) I don’t see any fun in that anyways actually quiet boring … you’re wasting your time , start building a collection buy some coins they don’t have be expensive get yourself some 2x2 Mylar flips buy some coins have some fun study some books on series of coins you are collecting wether its US coinage or world coinage and get involved on here more often as a collector (try Lincolns cent series try collect all years and mint marks by date most are available in raw condition anyways on eBay and all over for reasonable price) get them neatly in 2x2 flips in binder pages for holding 2x2 flips just have some fun with it come on here you’ll have something worth talking about…. That’s all I could say for now hope you consider …
  10. @cladking I’m all for the hobby whatever makes someone happy so be it … I don’t know why some long time collectors are wishing modern market will crash and so on waste of time collecting in that field , we are supposed to be supporting the hobby in all sectors classic or modern , medals , tokens , and so on …. Seems like some have lost their ways caught up in market hype what is selling hot now for profit and are only worried about making a nice profit on their coins in the future… I got it sure we all like nice coins , but I embrace and accept all parts of market only worrying about my collection and what I’m buying that makes me happy … not sure if some collectors are worried that market is shifting with newer millennials collectors focusing on modern coinage stuff and abandoning classical coinage ?
  11. I’m not to sure how to deactivate an account on here , sorry you feel that way … wish well ! keep in mind if you ever get back into hobby , it’s about collecting numismatic (coins and history, mintages , rarity , varieties and so on) it is not about sending coins to NGC or PCGS for grading …. A lot newer folks coming here for information was indeed MISGUIDED ! by YouTube and TikTok videos about coins being “error” coins worth alot $$$$ its so not true ! As hobbyist and collectors we study this stuff day in and day out for YEARS ! So keep that in mind if you ever want to take hobby more serious some day in future there’s other parts of collecting hobby if you are not aware World coins , there’s Exonumia Medals and Jeton, tokens …. It not all about USA coinage… in fact I myself pretty made switch years ago I like German coinage , European coinage and medals and Exonumia …. But you have to take time sit down and try learn read up online , buy some books on coinage that you wish to collect … my collection is mostly Raw , I also collect graded coins as well , some of my coins in my Raw collection I can send them in for grading if I want but I don’t care they are not for sale anyways so why would be worried about getting them graded by TPG? There’s never a hurry to send a coin in for grading… But you need put your time in and learn as much as you can , hey we all started somewhere in the collecting hobby some young and some later in life …. We didn’t come on here bad mouth the contributors on forums about our coins , we didn’t send a bunch of bad coins to TPG throwing money away !!! A lot good advice on here if you’re willing to learn it …. We didn’t become knowledgable collectors over night !!! Took us years to learn the hobby
  12. I do see some kind of a market in future with modern collectors , I don’t know if it will be that extreme tho …. I’m probably gonna get whipped by some on here I do believe there will be a modern market for low mintage Bullion coins ( I know everyone bashes bullion “but it’s only worth melt”) I get it from their perspectives , but I’ve witness with my own eyes new collectors have been paying high dollars for low mintage Silver Bullion coins what I call “fantasy” silver rounds from reputable mints from around the world ….. I see growing popularity in ancient coinage , as well as some older classic world coins and Exonumia as well , in fact I was chatting with few young collectors the other day on discord they were around ages 13-18 years old they were really involved into the Old old old German states , Holy Roman Empire coinage I had pleasure watching them showing me coins they had in their collections , rarely do I meet young numismatic collectors who are in the old old world stuff these kids were book smart too they studied a lot taught me some stuff made me look it up myself … HA ! it’s hard to say what market will be 75 years from now I won’t be around that long …. Classic coinage will always have some sort of demand as long as collectors teach the next generation to come …. All coinage 1965 and up will be somewhat considered classic coinage in next 75 years from now , after all coin collecting been around since Middle Ages !!!! How far we have come today …so let’s not get to wrapped up in to “valuation” what stuff should be worth when collecting should be about study coinage and assembling a collection not just about $$$$
  13. Wow my lucky day again more parking lot coins
  14. Pittsburgh News ran an article of Kenny Pickett’s house up for sale … mansion !!! For a benchwarmer quarterback I wouldn’t mind being benchwarmer make that kind of money … most NFL players today are whiners it’s all about money and no show or quality style playing … older NFL players played for love of the game
  15. I’m glad Kenny Pickett went to Philly he’s an annoying whiner ! He’s trying aim to high and big in NFL wants starter position he was offered one but he wasn’t up for challenge for starter position instead he whined about it…. Bye bye Kenny Pickett I won’t miss him …
  16. Anyone into horror movies? … Leprechaun is the name of movie there’s like 1-3 parts of movie series … creepy little Leprechaun dude he hunts down people who steal his gold shillings … not really scary ! Although funny in some parts when he’s asking people “where’s me coin? , where’s my gold shilling?” Through out the movies it based around his shillings you see his gold coins several times in the movie
  17. If you’re see what I’m seeing especially with state quarter series , yes they sorta look PL . Definitely a higher quality strike as well … when ever I get handful change back when shopping I can spot Denver quarter in my hand without even looking at mint mark !
  18. On honest note for today’s modern circulated strikes I would strong pick Denver mint … I don’t know if anyone else noticed it but Denver mint sure puts a nice strike on circulating coins compared to other US mints
  19. Welcome ! Also good you listen to advice about saving your money (as a collector for many years I would say in this hobby you want be “book smart” make the right choices and listen to advice when it’s given when it comes to your collection) I usually don’t send a coin in for grading unless it’s like over $150-$200 (but most likely I don’t send it for grading) by time I send it in insurance/shipping plus grading fees and so on I have too much wrapped up more than what coin is almost worth plus long wait as well …. Sending coins in for grading should be reserved for “special” stuff higher end stuff , now a days a lot newbies are sending in common date stuff wasting money on slabbing fees and shipping when they could of bought two nice coins from dealer already graded ready to go out the door that day ….
  20. For me ? It would be a Bavaria (3 mark) Ludwig 3 KM# 1010 …. Very very rare so no 3 mark collection would be fully completed without this one , I’d have take a loan out just to get it … HA !
  21. That looks like some PMD something that happened after minting process definitely no way that happened during minting … perhaps some stuck it through soldering iron with copper wiring … just very shiny looking too definitely PMD
  22. If you watch the movie , you’ll see the dog was reborn numerous time he was born a different breed every time , in fact one time he was born as German Shepard his purpose was to be K-9 working dog … through the movie he had differnt roles in life but mainly he came into someone’s life then he would die by old age leaving that person with a broken heart … in the end of movie he was reborn one more last time he reunited with his original owner from years and years ago …. Somehow his owner knows it’s him in a different type of a breed but it still same dog way it acts the owner quickly recognizes it
  23. Send it in for grading comes back XF45 if you’re lucky enough … slap a piece of tape over it and write MS70 ! Shuck it under your pillow to help you sleep better at night time
  24. @VKurtB what ! No moonlight mint on your list there ?
