  2. You’re not alone I been there times or two when ordering coins overseas they stated it was Stempleglanz! (65-70) When I got it in hand it was more like lower end UNC. At most or just a tad toward AU ! That’s why I don’t agree with dealer’s prices sometimes I offer a grade or 2 lower … take or leave it
  3. Stempelglanz I would consider and expect a coin “Gem” 65 or higher … why these dealers from other countries classify them (65-70 grade) is beyond me. But I don’t take their grading to heart it’s little over graded compared to US grading standards … I see a lot over graded world coins , I never pay the price they are asking either I offer 2 grades lower on nicer coins
  4. I agree , Proof was never an intention to be a grade . More of a strike characteristic but not a grade .
  5. Me I prefer classic U.S gold coinage , the modern stuff is okay not as good looking as classic stuff . Then don’t forget there’s also world gold coins graded and ungraded too many to list on here that fall in your price range and slightly below your price range as well so gold is easier to reach and obtain more than you think it is
  6. We call them basement slabbers, self grader . The thing that bothers me the most they can’t even change printing ink cartridge when they printing out label … so terrible ! Bad for business
  7. It’s a ranch home basement is right at bottom with a large garage opening and a steel door it should fit . It will be resting on concrete foundation . If it doesn’t fit ? Lol! I’ll have to the get the air hammer and chisel out and air Jack the bricks out around basement steel door to get it in the basement… can always put the bricks back .
  8. If it helps anyone out German coin dealers and grading terms and language how they describe a coin for marks , rubbing , proofs and so on . And I found Scandinavian grading terms as well
  9. I been thinking about buying this big beast ! I have a large basement almost full length of the house it’s a ranch style home basement it pretty long and wide . If I buy this one I can sell off my other two safes . This beast is 100 gun safe plenty storage room in it but price tag is $8,000 which seems not too bad
  10. Ahh yes that’s the word I was looking for , it wouldn’t just hit my head while I was typing
  11. I keep all My collection locked up in a gun vault , I also have a full size old old money safe , I keep my other documents and some firearms locked up as well … my coin collection does take up a lot room in my bigger vault . I been thinking about buying another Knox vault just for my coin collection , running out of room for firearms as well .
  12. Our country is doomed for the future the most debtful country ,if that is even a word to describe it , which debtful isn’t a word but it should be . Ironic as is sounds when our country was formed they came here for freedom of religion, but also tax burden hardship from the king was another reason fast forward today we are literally taxed on almost everything we touch or own! The day they decided to form politics that’s the day this country was doomed !!!! We will never fix our debt situation fully it will always keep going up and up our money is basically useless
  13. I read somewhere the $1 trillion dollar coin was supposed to be 10 feet in diameter and 2 feet thick ! Crazy . No way they would be able to make a coin that big with machinery and cost that would be involved to make it
  14. Yeah I don’t fully grasp concept why does a coin have to be minted using $1 trillion dollars worth of platinum? (That sucker must be huge? Take a big vault) Why not just stack $1 trillion dollar of platinum? Keep in mind the precious metal market moves in waves , $1 trillion now , could go down in hole in next few years of precious metal platinum in this case tanks under just sounds stupid to me
  15. Lately I been hearing a lot chatter going on in DC last few days about them wanting to raise the debt ceiling the GOPs don’t want to help but don’t need GOPs help they can bypass it and raise debt ceiling in return they came up with a wacky idea minting a $1 trillion dollar platinum coin ? As wacky as it sounds I thought they were joking but they were serious ! Google it for yourself
  16. Happens everyday , every graded coin at one time was raw bought for way way cheaper than a graded coin sells for he probably had them sent in for conservation at his own expenses . It’s neither ethical or unethical just the way the hobby is … I’m sure I’ve sold coins in past someone else made extra money off it having it graded and sold …
  17. A lot World coin series don’t have a lot information on “varieties” (strike errors or doubling , RPM and so on) . Unlike the US coins do . I believe thats more of a US coin collecting thing.
  18. Most world coins that are true double dies or some sort of error have very little interest or premium at all . Not like the US error coins which have a more broad demand and collector followers. You can get an off struck world coin pretty cheap compared to US off struck coin .
  19. Now that’s pretty cool ! I haven’t seen anything like that before . Again I’m not an error coin collector , lately on here there been a lot rubbish new collectors asking if they got a double die or error coin that looks like basic circulated coin… But your coin is definitely interesting , and unique!
  20. I have little titanium in me as well , 2 years ago out hunting slipped on mud and snow landed on my hand literally broke the big bone in my wrist in half … they put Titanium plate in my wrist with screws reattach the bone . I now have tiny teeny bit of terminator in me
  21. I worked with a guy his father collected a few silver eagles back then they first came out , he was getting them from a dealer that put them in paper envelope , years later when his father died 2014 , he came across them 1986-1993 in a shoe box in a bed room closet, regular strikes each one was rainbow toned they had darkish green ,blue ,purple with little splash of orangish color , few were had rusty yellow golden orangish color .he bought them work to show me pretty cool I suspect only the envelope had to do that kind of toning, that was only time I’ve seen a truly toned silver eagle in person that I got to handle and look at them …
  22. Most bulk Wheat cent been searched in the past , normally worn down coins what we call “culls” the stuff a serious collector doesn’t want to waste time with that stuff you can get them super cheap ! But when it comes times to sell nobody wants to buy an old collection full of culls. Us serious collectors will buy a single coin at a time to build our collection to way it pleases our eyes and selling stand point something that is a little easier to sell in future to another collector . Just Something to keep in mind , but since your starting out buying a bulk bag of Wheat cents won’t hurt you until you get the taste you’ll want more serious coins that appreciate in value and collector’s interest .
  23. You’re referring to 1941 Canadian quarter that was used to make 1970 proof US quarter ? That was a one of a kind coin . I’ve read an article on that coin once … I’m curious to see a better picture of your coin front and back clear pictures … But don’t get your hopes high I highly doubt that what you have , some dealers don’t know what they are talking about either some sadly just have poor eye sight , you could have struck through coin or die clash or just good old environmental damage that’s playing tricks on your eyes and dealer’s eyes as well … whatever you do don’t just send it off for grading right now … you have about 10-15 as well as 100 people on here examining your coin we’ll be able tell you what you got , instead of just getting an opinion from 1 dealer send coin in grading find out you paid a lot money and grading company doesn’t see what you were told that a dealer sees . Just my 2 cents on the thoughts
  24. I too have a lot old fatty NGC holders about 40-45 coins in old fatty holders I’ve been looking around for older style NGC boxes , haven’t found any yet . although I do some woodworking I plan on making my own storage boxes out of walnut or cherry wood just for my NGC fatty holders …. Just haven’t gotten around to it yet
  25. No that’s not a real 1972 double die . What you have might be slight machine doubling we call those the “poor man’s” double die not worth anything … however I show a picture what the “real” 1972 double die should look like . Finding one is slim pickings needle in haystack 1 in million you’d probably have a better odd winning the lottery, most of 1972 double dies already been cherry picked . Notice on 1972 Double die the whole coin show a strong doubling in lettering and date together
