OH HECK IT IS MKIE THE HUCKSTER!!!!  at it again...  saw these last night for the 2022 Silver Proof Eagles.  they wanted $500 for them...WTF!!!  what did the call them  "Advanced Releases".....give me a break why do these people get preferances over real customers..  is this the Tuluia islands release??   Why would NGC give thes there own slot in the price guide?  why are they trying to make artifical inflation where the normal collector has to purchse the same coin in different packages just to fill their slot in the reg??????????  it is Bull SSSSSSSS

“Real” does NOT equal “important” or valuable. Roger above is correct, whether you spell it bologna or baloney.

No, just a set picture I found online. So far, I have only one Maundy set, and it turns 120 years old this year. A 1902 set in matte proof. First year of Edward VII. I picked it up at the Bloomsbury Coin Fair in London, just around the corner from CNG’s London office. December 2019. Modern Maundy sets are often even more expensive than classics.

Someone may have cleaned them before your family owned them. Years ago cleaning them wasnt frowned upon like it is today.

I have to agree do not spend anything on these just keep them as is, maybe a nice flip to keep them from more damage.

I would not advise spending the money to have either of these graded, both are at best mid AU and from the photos both look to have been wiped/cleaned in the past and I would not be surprised if both came back as details grades.   Only if these are rare or highly desirable VAM's could it be worth it, I do not collect VAM's so I did not check.   However your coins and your money so your choice to have graded or not.

Interesting how "important" UNC-70 coins are to people who could not identify one if it were out of the holder.

I stopped buying from the mint years ago, as such I never even started an ASE collection.   I'm a happier person for it.

In the United States, counterfeit cash has been around as long as the real stuff. There was a huge increase in counterfeiting crimes in the wake of the Civil War (it was estimated that anywhere between one-third to half of the money circulating throughout the country at the time was fake), and in order to combat this, federal laws were established. Among them was the banning of real money in photography.

I'm not sure but I believe one of the reasons the insurances companies got such a small award was because manyof the firms saying they paid claims on the wreck no longer had the policys/documantation.  The policy's had been paid and they never expected the cargo would be recovered so they had disposed of the paperwork.

NGC still has a way to go to restore its reputation from the fact that the most commonly slabbed coins are American Silver Eagles. That’s already “not a good look”. Gimmicky names for die cracks is a bridge too far.

NGC, please rethink that policy if it exists. There are quite enough gimmicky things in this hobby already.

@Errorists This. Both I and @Oldhoopster brought this up multiple times. You dodged and avoided the question, and it seems you view the Scarface as a "minor" die crack. It's not, when compared to the minor cracks you constantly post about this die was practically falling apart. The value of the Scarface goes up drastically based on how dramatic the crack is.
I don't know why you dodge every right answer given with a diversion, but I suggest you give up the fight. Many people here told you you were wrong, and I agree.

Right here.  How else can you interpret it?  I even asked twice if that's what you meant, and you kept blowing smoke instead of answering.

If you do a little research instead of trying to figure out cute, irrelevant names for common minor errors, you'll find out that many series do have the equivalent of VAM varieties.
Large cents use Sheldon and Newcomb numbers, colonials use Miller, Ryder and others, early half dimes have Logan/McCloskey and Valentine, Mint varieties have the Fivaz and Stanton Cherry Pickers Guide, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

All the labels I have seen in the past have had the letter on it, does it not look like this?   Note the B in Parenthesis after the shipreck effect portion of the label

.............hopefully!     You guys may have seen these free library book boxes along the side of the road.  I picked up this Whitman album from the free table at a local coin club.   I added a few cents and put it in one of these boxes the other day.  In the hopes, some kid finds it and spark his or her interest.
