Coinbuf got a reaction from Henri Charriere in 1982 D penny small date real
Small date zinc, very common coin just a spender.
You can look till the day they put you in a box you still will not find one. Your time would be better spent and more lucrative if instead of spending that time searching for a 82-D sm date copper you got a job at the local circle K.

Looked at by who? How was this composition determined? If you are not aware most handheld type of metal scanners only read a few mils of depth, so a plated coins will read as if it is copper but is not. The details you shared when you started this thread tell us all that is needed.
This thread is getting hard to follow with the vasquez clown mucking it up.

Coinbuf reacted to l.cutler in 1943 penny
You have this backwards, the 1943 cents that stick to a magnet are the normal, extremely common steel cents, the rare bronze ones won't stick. If a 1943 that looks bronze sticks to a magnet then it is a normal steel cent that has been plated.
-
Coinbuf reacted to l.cutler in 1943 penny
All 1943 cents will stick to a magnet except the rare ones struck on leftover 1942 bronze planchets. Copper coated steel cents that stick to a magnet are normal steel cents that someone has copper plated to mimic the rare copper 1943.

Bought this at the same time as my newest US coin addition. Like that this coin is largely bought for the now defunct Blanchard holder. But I also really like this design and almost pulled the trigger on a similar silver coin last year. My patience was rewarded with this gold coin.

Just quick cell phone pics. Bought this for the Hallmark holder more than the coin, but I do like the coin as well.

Coinbuf reacted to Fenntucky Mike in No Mint Mark No Date Error coin, any advice?
Welcome to the forum.
There is a foreign substance on the coin, most likely some type of adhesive, on which another coin was pressed or resting resulting in the partial impression of the Memorial on the obverse. This did not happen at the mint and is not an error. You can try soaking the coin in some acetone for several hours to see if the substance will dissolve away.

Has completely full luster and looks like it was ways never circulated. Maybe not quite a MS 70 but I think a grade right under that.

Coinbuf got a reaction from Ali E. in Need a new NGC Registry set? **Please remember to include your NGC certification numbers in your request! **
Hello team, we should add a one per date set to the Jefferson Nickel sets, we have one for the Buffalo nickel series so one should be added to the Jefferson sets too.

I am not sure if this is considered a World coin being the German background, or a US coin as they for a time were used as "acceptable" currency in the US during the Civil War.

Coinbuf reacted to Fenntucky Mike in Would you open a mint sealed 50 year old bag of denver pennies to search for possible new die errors?
That you found 22 in one bag tells me that these are common, that apparently no TGP recognizes this variety would indicate that it is too minor to spend time looking for. In your question you ask individuals if they would search a 1974-D, $50 bag of cents, your findings haven't changed my mind. If individuals want to roll/bag search for minor varieties or errors that's cool, it's just not how I'd spend my numismatic time.

I was shocked. I've never seen a common world coin like this sell for such a large premium based on the toning. I guess the rainbow colors landed a pot of gold for the seller.

Coinbuf got a reaction from Fenntucky Mike in This Coin Blew The Doors Off Of The Place.
Toner lovers are a crazy bunch of collectors, and many are not afraid to spend some major cash if they like the tone. I would not be surprised at all if this was a Morgan dollar, but from what little I follow of the world coin market that does seem like a remarkable price.

Attached is the die clash overlay for a 2009 FY Cent to assist with pointing out where you see appropriate clash marks, as I also don't see that.

"what would a 1964 MS66 Kennedy half dollar go for with similar color" still way out of my collecting knowledge, but I'm going to say around $450.
