  1. I hope you are able to id this clown and report him to FedEx, shameful and disgusting way to treat any animal.
  2. Welcome to the forum, this section of the forum is for selling coins, Mike has provided a link for you to the proper location where you can post and discuss notes.
  3. Congrats on your new purchases and on moving your set to the top in the registry.
  4. Coin collecting is a journey with many different aspects and processes, having fun while collecting is a very good thing.
  5. I can understand financially why you want to resubmit this coin, however looking at the photos (objectively) taken by NGC on the cert verification page I do not think that NGC will certify this as 5FS. It seems to me that there are some issues with the 4th and 5th steps under the 2nd pillar, but I can only judge from the photos where you have the coin in hand.
  6. I guess I am the lone member with nothing but good experiences with FedEx, I have used them for many high value shipments to places like CAC and such. I have not had any issues (so far) even during the pandemic. In fact I specifically asked and provided my FedEx shipper number to CAC prior to them having all the issues they have with the post office. Too bad it has been such a hassle for so many.
  7. I think you posted the obv of the dime twice, and like the photos of your seated coin in your other thread the white balance is off which makes it more difficult to evaluate the surfaces of the coins. The rev of the quarter looks like a nice gently circulated example, likewise the rev of the dime presents well but the scratches on the obv face are distracting to my eye. Both look like solid album coins.
  8. Your photo white balance is off, thus it is difficult to say much about the coin. Overall it looks like a decent circulated coin with some bumps and nicks, I'm not sure that an acetone bath would be of any help unless there is some active green on the coin which I cannot discern from the photos.
  9. Do your due diligence, always check the feedback score of a seller. While this is not a foolproof step, because sellers can and do get negative feedback removed; it is a must do. Always check the cert number of any coins here or on the PCGS website, this is a must do step as you are not only confirming the cert but can use any photos that are available to compare and verify if the coin looks legit. Only buy if there is a solid return policy, avoid any seller that does not offer one. Are there counterfeits in top TPG holders, yes but it is a very tiny percentage of the total coins that quality firms like NGC or PCGS slab. Without seeing the statements you have read from those insta accounts, it sounds like a sales pitch/hyperbole to trash ebay and boost their sales on insta. Now if they are addressing raw coins on ebay, then yes there are a lot of counterfeit and altered coins that are offered on ebay, however there are just as many on the social media sites like insta or fakebook as well.
  10. Ok, I never look at those values as they are seldom very accurate for NGC graded coins and especially for coins in auctions. That seems to be more of a full retail price guide and more in line with what PCGS coins will sell for in retail outlets like a dealer shop, shows, or ebay. While I do not really agree or understand the market mentality on why so many discount NGC graded material, I am happy to accept the discount and buy more coins instead of plastic with four letters on it.
  11. The light color is not really an issue and I think that Mr. Lange may be correct that some debris may have been there which kept that area from toning and was later removed. What I am curious about is the denticle in that area, it seems to be missing in the photo. This may just be a function of the lighting and photo and may not be missing at all. If there is a return privilege then it may well be worth taking a look at it in hand as the overall coin looks very nice from this one photo.
  12. Kids don't learn English anymore, no need to as they have talk to text, spellcheck, and rely on texting shortcuts for communication. Combine that with the fact that English will soon become the second most commonly spoken language in the US (replaced by Spanish) and it is no surprise that spelling English is not a priority. Add in some dyslexia and there you have it, I know for myself that I have at times been typing fast and have swapped the two last letters by mistake.
  13. Hmm I don't follow the values that closely for the nickels, however I'm curious how you arrived at a FMV of $3,580 on the dime. NGC price guide shows $2,450 in its price guide and the PCGS and CAC price guides both show $3,750. In searching the PCGS auction archives the most recent NGC graded MS68 FB coins auctioned for $1,260 in 2021 and $879 in 2019. Even the past two PCGS coins fell short of the guide prices crossing the blocks in 2022 for $3,000 and $3,250, all of the coins I have referenced above are non CAC approved coins. A CAC green beaned coin would most certainly bring guide price or higher. So at a price of $1,150 this most recent one at GC was right in the range for an NGC graded coin, actually it went a bit cheaper than I expected considering how hot the market is right now.
  14. I think you came out the winner on those three auctions, as you noted you would have lost points on the nickels and I'm not a big fan of the dime. Big grade and registry points, but that streaky tan tone looks very much like dip residue to my eye form the GC photos. I think your 67+ has much more eye appeal than that MS68, I did look at it myself but decided that; like yours; I prefer my current 67+ better.
  15. Perhaps I'm misreading your comments, however it reads to me as if you are blaming NGC for the loss of your package by FedEx. NGC has no control over what any delivery service (UPS, FedEX, USPS) does with any packages once those packages are transferred to any delivery provider. I get that its frustrating having a package lost but it seems that you are vilifying NGC for something that they have no control over, and further your threat of legal action is premature and misdirected. I do not know what the wait times are at FedEx for lost packages, last I heard the USPS had a 30 day waiting period before a claim could be submitted on a lost package, so I assume that FedEx also has some sort of wait time also. You have not provided a complete history of what happened or the timeline for all this but without full disclosure of all the perinate information (which I also understand you may not wish to disclose) there is really nothing that anyone can do or advise. The only thing I can say is patience will be key and I suggest that you contact customer service on Tues and request an update on your situation, it sometimes can take time to resolve these things. Also as you say that this is not the first time you have had a package of coins go missing (now from multiple sources) it seem at least possible that you have been identified and targeted for theft, perhaps you should be contacting the authorities to see about any known theft rings in your area. And lastly here is a link to the Numismatic Crime Information Center. If you contact them with the cert numbers of the lost coins they will do what they can to help in the recovery of your lost coins. Numismatic Crime Information Center
  16. That is a very nice recognition for yourself @DWLange as well as the other members of the NGC staff also on that list.
  17. That Looks really nice @Lem E, congrats on the completion of a short set of nickels.
  18. Not an error, just the way that coin was designed. You could have very easily done a google search and found this out for yourself. I am not saying that to be mean simply that you could have found your answer in less time than it took you to take photos and compose your post.
  19. Custom sets are fun and have the ability to create whatever you (the collector) want. I have one custom set of old holders, the biggest issue with the custom sets is that only NGC and PCGS holdered coins can be viewed by the public. In my case I have many slabs form old and now defunct companies that I wish were viewable for those who look at my set. Second to the bottom link in my sig line.
