  1. Thank you. I was commenting on the pestilential nature of those particular beasts
  2. You're right, Jonathan. You're absolutely right. I apologize to you and the OP for my comment regarding "1964 SMS" coins......though I meant the comment in a very general way, I can see how it could be interpreted as contributing to calling the OP out. I didn't mean it that way. But I stand by it in the general way I meant it.......those things are becoming a plague around here. This post is just another instance of it.
  3. Good catch, Bob!!! I need to become more versed in ancient Greek coins.......
  4. Those things are becoming a damned plague around here...........
  5. Indeed it is!!! I didn't realize how much there is to it......wow!!! That's quite a project you have taken on, my friend. And, most importantly, I'm glad Sam is improving. I had pneumonia once as a teenager.....I can't imagine it as a two year old!!!! The eating and drinking thing.....I can see how that would definitely be a problem. He probably doesn't have much of an appetite from the illness and the meds, but yeah.....if he's lost weight he definitely needs to start getting some calories in him. Since I am not a parent and have never even attempted to care for a two year old, I cannot imagine the stress of this. I hope that he comes around and starts eating and drinking on his own. I'm thinking he probably will, once he's feeling a bit better.
  6. Hi Jaynh, Sorry to disappoint yet again, but I'm not seeing anything that would indicate a doubled die to me. It just looks like a regular old 1983 Lincoln Cent.
  7. Hello and Welcome! Well, from what I can see, you have a regular business strike 1964 cent that's in pretty nice condition for a circulation find. 1964 cents are very common, even today as they made 2,648,575,000 of them. 1964 dated cents were actually struck in both 1964 and 1965, but there is no way of discerning which year a 1964 cent was actually struck. Your cent would be a nice coin for an album or folder set of Lincolns.
  8. Man, William, that poor kid.....he has had some bad luck. I feel for him and for your whole family and I hope Sam makes a speedy and complete recovery soon. It seems like this forum is a good place for you when life throws you curveballs.....I remember when Sam was born and he had all of the health issues he did. You were here with us a lot then. And things turned out okay. This will be the same. As for the Zimbabwe coins......it sounds like you have some competition there, my friend!! That should make things interesting.....I'll be interested to hear more about that when you get around to writing about it. It's interesting to see what people have been getting into collecting-wise with the pandemic and everything that goes along with that whole thing. It's definitely impacted the hobby, though not my little corner of the world with it......most people are looking for attainable goals, not lifelong numismatic insanity. I wish you and your family all the best during this tough time. Hopefully, Sam's luck will change. ~Tom
  9. Yep. The dealers are cashing on the first year of issue hype. It'll die down. I think by next year, any premium for the 2021 Type 2's will be minimal. For collectors that want the Type 2 coins, I think waiting is the smartest move to make right now, at least where the actual bullion pieces are concerned.
  10. I'm with Woods.....something about that toning really looks off to me. I think it came from a reaction with a chemical cleaning agent rather than the air, a coin album or a coin envelope. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm going AU Details-Cleaned.
  11. And winning it at that price is the only way that coin would be a good buy.
  12. Hi Leroy, Well, unless the 2021 Type 2 is some kind of condition rarity in MS70, which I highly doubt and I doubt if we'd know it was or not at this point, that coin is WAY overpriced. I think you can definitely find a better deal on a 2021 Type 2 AGE if you want one. Just my thoughts and I hope they help. ~Tom
  13. Hi Mike, You're absolutely correct. That is artificial toning all day long. You see a lot of this with ASE's. People who doctor coins like to abuse ASE's with stuff like this for some reason. ~Tom
  14. I'm glad to hear it, Mike. I always hate to be the bearer of bad news.
  15. Jaynh, Once again, that close up isn't helpful. It's too close up and way too cropped. But even so, I still see nothing indicating doubling to me on this particular coin.
  16. Hi Mike, I'm with Jonathan on this one.....AU Details, cleaned and possibly whizzed. The coin just doesn't look natural to me, unfortunately. ~Tom
  17. As the others have said, the photos are pretty bad. From what I can discern from them, however, you appear to just have a normal 1988 cent. I see nothing indicating any doubling whatsoever.
  18. Oh yeah.....if Woods puts them out in circulation, it'll only be a matter of time before there's a "solid gold quarter with a Pac Man error" or some BS like that listed for $54,000 on Etsy. Count on it.
  19. That's interesting to know, Woods. I've never heard that before......after 22 years, I'm still learning stuff!
  20. I agree. It does look like a die clash. And Rock the Casbah is one of my favorite songs.
  21. This exactly. If I had that quarter, it'd be going into a Laundromat washer or dryer if the machine would accept it.
  22. Hey Joe! I wonder if you have a plated coin that got out into circulation. There were a lot of sets of the Westward Journey nickels that were plated and sold by the usual culprits in things like that. That's what it looks like to me, anyway. Neat find in a roll for sure though. ~Tom
  23. It's just a damaged 1969-D cent....that's one's a spender.
  24. All I see is a regular circulated 1969-S Lincoln Cent. It's definitely not worth spending money to grade. It'd be a good coin for like a Whitman folder Lincoln Cent set or something like that. If it were mine, I'd likely just spend it.
