This one arrived this week, sadly I already had this one, but at least it's a slight upgrade!

The last several that came thru auctions averaged between $1200 and $1400, not accounting for the VAM, with a couple of outliers on each side of the sales spectrum.  As this seller is right in the middle of those results I will guess that the VAM is not much of a value adding item but I'm not a VAM guy so don't take that to the bank.  As to the coin it's not too badly marked or beat up for the grade but the luster looks subdued in the auction pics, maybe too many times thru the dip jar which may have resulted in a silent net grade.  If I were interested I'd make an offer of say $1150 and see what the seller says, the coin looks low end for the grade (imo) from the photos and at any price over $1200 I would look for a coin with better luster and skin.

There have been many designs stamped into Lincoln cents over the years, but none have any numismatic value. You might could sell it for a quarter at a flea market or garage sale, but, to a collector, it is worth one cent.

Well, technically, it is worth a tiny bit more.
    From the website Coinflation.com:
"$0.0184856 is the melt value for the 1909-1982 copper cent on February 26, 2020."
I seem to recall reading that the government has outlawed the private melting of cents to retrieve the copper, though. So, unless you need it to make ammo for the Zombie Apocalypse, you should probably not melt it down.

Well, Gentlemen, I guess our secret is out in the open now and we have been exposed.
Your are correct, Gilbert. Almost everyone on this chat board is actually a secret agent who is working for the government to help insure that  poor guys like you can never get ahead. We dedicate our lives to keeping new collectors in the dark and disseminating disinformation whenever possible. We have sworn an oath to call every coin that is posted on here "junk," "damaged," or "common," in order to dissuade anyone from trying to search for the countless millions of extremely valuable coins that are just waiting to be found in every person's pocket change. Our hope is that only a select few, specially chosen collectors will ever become wealthy, and that everyone else will continue to be oppressed and downtrodden. We take every opportunity to give dishonest or misleading answers to questions about valuable error coins and varieties that everyone knows are worth thousands of dollars, because we do not want these coins to remain in the hands of commoners.
You have truly saved the world by exposing us and our corrupt practices. I salute you.

While it may be hard to believe that a 50+ year old coin is only worth face value, that is very often the case. Your coin was one of over 1.7 billion cents minted in Philadelphia that year, so is very common.
Cool to find one in circulation, though. It is in pretty good shape to be that old. Although there is a slight misalignment of the obverse die, it isn't enough to add to the value. Just worth one cent.

What you have is commonly called a magician's coin, made by mating the obverses of two different coins. If you look closely enough, you will find a seam where the two coin halves were put together.

It amazes me sometimes the prices people will pay for common coins, just to have the highest scoring registry set possible. (Nothing wrong with it - just not something I would do.) At the time of that sale (2008) there were only 15 graded MS68RD. (Not sure if that is just PCGS, or both services - the listing does not specify) Coin sold for $4025, including juice.. Fast forward to June, 2019. There are now 24 with that grade at PCGS, and 13 at NGC. The price realized in that auction (different coin from the above example, but same grade) is $168. Unfortunately, that particular coin had been purchased six years earlier for $1410. That is the problem with high grade moderns that are purchased for moon money:There is always a chance that another, or many other, coin(s) will be certified at that same grade or higher at some point in the future, and that really expensive coin suddenly loses much of its original "value."

That looks severe enough to get a "details" grade, so you may want to check past auction prices for "VF Details" graded coins on a few sites like Great Collections, Heritage Auctions, etc., to determine approximate value. This should help you decide if it is worth it to you to have it graded.

While your token is likely a replica/fake, not all tokens with bears on the reverse are junk. The M.E. Hart set, "Coins of the Golden West" are considered highly collectible.

You must have misunderstood. He wasn't saying that you need to post pictures of your coins. Oh, no, he was saying you actually have to share your coins with us. It's a rule that new members, especially those who work for major coin dealers, have to send out free samples to all of the other members.
