  1. I have yet to get any better pics or see the Morgan in hand but the date is one of my concerns. A pic of the coin against a known graded coin:
  2. Yup .... I told her if I had it in hand I could find out if it's real or a philly with an s applied or maybe a 98 with the eight changed to a three.
  3. I did ... that's why I thought it wasn't legit.
  4. The weight checks out at 26.7 and it is the right diameter ... my thought was a philly with an s applied
  5. Hey all, I have a friend who sent me these pics (yes I told her not to handle coins like this). At any rate my initial thought was counterfeit. Right off I didn't like the date or mint mark position. I am waiting for better photos so this is all I got from her .... opinions welcome And no she did not purchase the coin it was left to her.
  6. Thanks Greenstang, figured it was a long shot. The lighting was playing tricks on me again . It will stay in it's proof set holder
  7. I think I'll just keep it in the holder
  8. I was going through some proof sets I have and wasn't positive on this cent I have in a capital holder .Probably wishful thinking here for a possible ddo but still would like to run this by for any input.
  9. Ageed, post it on Ebay raw and make 5 times your investment .... even better profit on the silver proofs from what I've seen.
  10. Thank you .... my basic thoughts as well just looking for confirmation. Appreciate the extra look Coinbuf!
  11. The corrosion on this 1814 crosslet 4 large cent is pretty evident but I do like the details of LIBERTY and the ear/hair visibility. That said is the corrosion so far gone that this coin loses it value as a potential vg-8 or better? Thanks for looking!
  12. Yup, that was my concern as well Bob. It definitely has a few dings but that one is the most evident.
  13. Good day, looking for opinions on this Draped Bust small 6 - stemless half cent. Considering as a candidate for my next submission. I have this at perhaps a F-12 which would give me enough value to grade. Any input is appreciated. I included two different lighting aspects to show the details better. Thanks for looking!
  14. That was my initial thought Greenstang but wasn't sure. On another subject this year does carry a pretty good premium for EF and better (my opinion is EF40 to AU50) but would the date depreciate the potential grade?
