Last coin needed for my quarter collection - just posted it in the New Aquisitions Thread - but it belongs here too.

Its in a PCGS AU 55 holder.

Looked for many years for a coin acceptable enough for inclusion in this set:

Just stumbled accross these two coins at HLRC tonight -

along with the aid of a few other Barber collectors -

and these are the newest additions to the Half Dollar collection.

The 01-S is a PCGS 63 - now I have to sell off the ANACS 55,

PCGS 53, and the PCGS 40 but I'm pleased to locate a nice

mid range MS coin for the set.

The 1902-P is a PCGS 64 - CAC - and from the looks of the image,

it looks very close to a MS 65. My 1902-P in PCGS 55 will be put

onto the Money-Marketplace once I have the new coin in hand.

Very nice Elbasaar! I have to say it again, you just never run out of these things. If you don't mind me asking, about how many coins would you say you have that are just Barbers?

Bobby,

I'd have to guess around 400 give or take.

BTW, they are not all MS !!

Dime set is complete* w/ die varieties in AU 55-58

- plus half another certified collection in 55-58;

[ * ] No 1894-S Dime I'm afraid.

quarter set is complete with all hub types and varieties

and as well as with many duplictes all in 55-58-65;

half set is complete with all die varieties -

including the finest known AU 1892-O

Micro O in a PCGS 55 holder -

plus I had the James Bennett Pryor

1892-O Micro O in ANACS 55 -

which I sold to buy the one now in my set.

My duplicate halves in mid range collectable grades

are available for sale and I have listed them in

"The Money Marketplace".

I know its ill form to discuss coins for sale

in this Forum and I'll make no more mention of it again.

Currently - the finest quarter collection in the country

belongs to the Gardner Collection and its been my hope

that he shows off his coins with some professsional images.

If you think my newest addition to the quarter collection is nice,

imagine what his 1901-S in PCGS MS 67 looks like.

BTW, Hamrick Coins has a lovely MS 66 available for the

princely sum of $154K ++. Check it out on eBay.

For a truly memorable experience, look at Sunnywood's Collection of

Barber Quarters accross the street. Its breathtaking. :cloud9:

To continue where I left off - 1902 -

here's another Half which I just agreed to

take on - and if its as nice as it looks -

I'm sending back the 1902-P in PCGS 64

which I showed earlier.

This coin has alot of meat to it -

and the seller says he doesn't

understand why its not in an

NGC 64 - 65 holder. Coin looks

awefully clean for an AU 58...

The first group of images were taken with a halogen bulb,

including the close up of the cheek.

The second set of two images are taken with

two types of bulbs - a halogen and an OTT bulb -

and the white color was balanced.

I was informed that the bottom two images

are what the coin looks like in hand.

Once I have the coin in hand, I'll let you know

which is closer to the look of the coin.

Here's a 1915-d I've had for a while. I was to lazy to take the coin out of the holder, the scratches in

the photo are on the plastic protector. Very clean.

I know its hard to tell, but what do you think of the grade? A local dealer told me he thought ms 64.

I'm thinking maybe, but a solid 63. <3

Very nice 15-D - but as you say the holder's scratches are bothersome.

Try some slab polish - called Scratch-Away.

There are alot of home remedies as well.

Ask around - someone's got to have a easy solution [ pun intended ]

for you.

I can't really call the grade - but obviously its MS...IMHO. I'll have to rely

on your dealers opinion. Maybe it would MS 64...its worth a shot.

Thanks for posting !!

Hi all - I've posted some coins on the main board and am trying to get a feel for grading, etc. I have my dad's collection including 6 Barbers. I posted one on the main and here's another. I know it's not to the standard I've seen many of you post but opinions (grades) would be welcome. Thanks much.

DannyBoy,

Your 14-S is a VG 8 as OldTrader3 mentioned...however

without seeing the coin in hand I can't say what the staining

might be. Solid coin - nice rims - and decent detail remaining.

Feel free to post the others.
