My newest addition to my F12-VF20 Barber half set..............curse you Elbezar, you got me hooked... :cloud9:

PS: there is a "lump" at the bottom of the reverse rim..at first I thought it was a rim ding but upon further inspection it is just a small mound of extra silver...what is this called?

The word you're searching for is a CUD - but thats not what that is. Its a rim bump - pure and simple. Neither NGC nor PCGS would holder it.

Other than that its a nice coin. Don't crack it out unless you're going to try a Dansco album.

Its ' E l b e s a a r ' [bTW] not Elbezar. I really don't care but the name has a special meaning to me.

I just realized that I upgraded the 1896-O in AU 55 - shown above - with

a coin from Irv Reichels collection - a PCGS AU 58. I sent the above coin to

a well known coin dealer in Boston - you can figure it out, I don't want to sound

like I'm shilling for them; they should have it by next Tuesday - Jan. 22nd. I also

consigned a splendid 1897-O also in pcgs 55; [ there were ten coins in all , but this

isn't the place to discuss a BST or advocate another's coin business. ]

Anyhow...to continue with 1896...this half dollar is in a PCGS 58 holder.

since you have an abundance of those pesky 1896's...I could use one if you have one in a F12-VF20 range.. ;)

If I upgrade this 1896-P in PCGS 20, I'll consider selling it...

Don't think I have any more images of 1896 - so...I'll start with 1897

Here's my newest 1897-O Quarter - PCGS AU 58 - c/o JJ Teaparty in Boston

and purchased while at the FUN show.

Please excuse these terrible images - this coin is alot nicer in hand !!

Dwaine,

That's still a good looking coin - polishing hairlines and all - thanks for sharing.

Hope other Barber collectors start posting ... please... :makepoint:

I own a few Barber coins but I'm not a Barber Collector, so I'm not allowed to post images to this thread. Maybe your title should have been more inclusive. :kidaround:

Fine Line ...

You have a few Barber coins - and they're in your collection - so, like it or not

you're a Barber Collector - just not an active one.

Post away...

If I could change the Title to this Thread - I would !!

No, I'm a type collector who happens to have a few Barbers in the set. But either way I was just joking around. I've seen several of these threads titled like this and I was feeling left out. :(

I don't have any new ones handy right now so here is one I bought and posted a while back. ANACS MS62 in an older holder.
