  1. People always leave their foreign change and even some American money gets spit out in the change machine lol. Hardly anyone checks that tray and the magnet under the lid that collects the metal ones is easy to knock them down into the return. I use all my collected Canadian quarters to do my laundryšŸ˜‚
  2. Although this could explain that Indian obverse wheat cent reverse someone told me theyā€™ve seen. Never thought about it possibly being split to trick people.
  3. Why is this impossible to be an error. Hasnā€™t the mint been known to make mistakes like that and put two obverse dies together by mistake?
  4. Oh and the sellers starting bid is $1000šŸ˜‚ Iā€™m definitely not buying either way especially with it not even being authenticated and labeled as such.
  5. I only have 2 more wheats to go and Iā€™m done with my set 1909-1971. Of course those two will probably take me longer then the whole set to acquire. The 1909-S VDB and the 1922 No D. This one isnā€™t as important but my folder has a spot for it so I must fill itšŸ˜‚ I came across this 1922 on auction and am very weary of counterfeits. This one has a very strong reverse but whatā€™s got me perplexed is that last 2. It seems to be stronger then the other numbers. Also I zoomed in where the D might be and thereā€™s a Circular spot in the medal as if someone filled it in and smoothed it out. Is this possible to add a number like that after you ground down the D and possibly some of that last 2? Itā€™s just weird because it looks nothing like the other three and most 1922 No Dā€™s and weak Dā€™s Iā€™ve seen that last 2 is almost faint as being part of the error on why the D is missing.
  6. Hereā€™s another pic with a different angle. Besides the 2 being filled in you can see wether it was grease or some other foreign material was in the way because it show way outside just the number 2.
  7. People like to stamp coins for various reasons. Iā€™m constantly finding these NRA nickels in rolls. I must have 4 so far and now someone who just gets straight to the point with GUN RIGHTS stamped on this nickel I found last night šŸ˜‚
  8. While I have this thread going I may as well post some of my other penny finds. I understand some here have seen better, know of better or have better then what Iā€™m showing. I donā€™t care to buy coins in holders and find joy in finding my own gems and building a collection that way. For now what I have is good enough for me. So hereā€™s one of the cleanest 1983 Lincoln pennies Iā€™ve come across. Half a bow tie and front left I guess youā€™d say jacket openingšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø missing. Also a dimple in his check and a die clash in his collar which is the statue of Lincoln on the reverse.
  9. Iā€™m thinking itā€™s a 93 because I know I had a 90ā€™s penny set aside with the same partially missing date. Hereā€™s a picture of the other penny with ERTY and 199 ghost 3. Also some doubling going on around the top of Lincolnā€™s head and face. And hereā€™s a picture of the reverse you asked for.
  10. Ok so what makes a grease filled die any different then struck through greasešŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø
  11. I have a quarter like this. Well almost lol. Thereā€™s a wide smooth gap in between his neck and ponytail. Itā€™s on a 1999 quarter I took out of a roll. Same as your nickel above. I found a few but kept one of the best looking.
  12. Found these two within days of each other. 2021 struck through Lincoln penny 021. 1998 struck through Lincoln penny 199.
  13. Has anyone here bought from this company before https://finestknown.com/product/1-20-different-date-and-or-mint-mark-morgan-silver-dollar-collection-ngc-pcgs-ms64/ or know about them? Theyā€™re selling Morgan sets and even though I wasnā€™t looking towards collecting them because I thought it would be to rich for my blood the pricing seems decent but I also donā€™t know enough about them. Iā€™m only guessing theyā€™re selling uncommon ones but they do state that they come with one from Carlson city. They also have coins from the SS Central America ship wrack. Lol I could only wish to buy one of those gold pieces although I may just buy a nugget instead. But yeah I havenā€™t gone through everything they have. Hopefully itā€™s something new to someone here and they find what they want from this site in any case I thought Iā€™d check here for reviews if thereā€™s someone that knows.
  14. How is it that in the process of making a die that it gets struck twice resulting in double dies on coins? I mean it not like theyā€™re pumping out dies like they do coins so youā€™d think it would only take one shot. Do they always stamp a die more then once to get a better impression or am I looking at this wrong?
  15. ā€œEditā€ The middle photo of the last three is the 1996P. Just donā€™t want anyone getting confused at what theyā€™re looking at. But if my photos are viewable to others you should be able to see the oval shapes between the legs on the first and last photos in the line up of the three.
  16. Iā€™ve been wondering what that was lol. Never thought about it being a die clashed from his eye. I have one on a 1996P I saved and a couple on a 1997P in my collection. On the two 97ā€™s the lower stomach of the eagle seems to have been polished down leaving a void were youā€™d normally see feathers but now with three oval shapes like the one at the arrow tips thatā€™s why I didnā€™t think it was a die clash. . Iā€™ve given my quarters the name the nesting eagle because it looks like three eggs under her breast with one at the arrow tips. The first two photos are the two 1997P and the last one is the 1996P. Iā€™d have to say the 1997ā€™s are the later stage of that clash if that is what it is only because the polishing of the die compared to the 1996P which still has breast feathers. Just a guess.
  17. What exactly is the ANA supposed to do about it? They are a coin club. Theyā€™re not the FAA or FCC of coins and itā€™s not like they can go out and fine these people selling counterfeit coins. I would have to assume the people to contact would be Secret Service or FBI if the coin is legal tender and the person is selling it as such. Other then that the ANA provides you with online courses and a large library on Numismatics, access to the coin museum and free coin grading submission. I donā€™t recall them offering a way to get anyones money back on a bad deal.
  18. When I bought the latest 79th edition it came with a Blue Book. Do all the previous editions come with a second book for dealer pricing? When collecting is it better to have the pair or is the Red Book the only one that matters. After seeing the dealer pricing I think it would be best to sell any coin worth big money at auction lol.
  19. Post it on Etsy. Anyone who buys off that site will surely buy it šŸ˜‚ For some reason I think the seller knew himself what he had wasnā€™t real and sold it to you at what the replica is actually worth to someone who wants a Morgan dollar but doesnā€™t. I guess it really would top your unluck if the guy hit it big off your $10šŸ¤£
  20. A lot of the newer quarters look like that. Especially the state quarters. They had to change the design every year and make a lot of them. So they got sloppy and thereā€™s a bunch with struck through grease and what not. I have a ton of quarters with die chips. I found out of all the quarters Iā€™ve been through the New Hampshire 2000 quarter seems to be the most messed up in machine doubling and worn and greased dies.
  21. Hereā€™s the reverse so you actually can see itā€™s the real deal. Oh and I couldnā€™t fit it in on my last postšŸ˜‚šŸ¤£
  22. You want to see a real die clash being sold on the internet? Like thereā€™s some serious clashing on this penny šŸ¤£
  23. Like they say one manā€™s junk is another manā€™s trasher and a coin is only worth what a collector will pay for it. I can see your point on the ridiculous prices for error coins that are junk online. I can relate to your frustration on that. But OP simply asked if his/her coin was a spitting eagle. I donā€™t believe he was trying to sell it. I was confused myself because I to thought the 1983P Spitting eagle was something sought after because of this Iā€™ve read awhile back https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/3480/Spitting-eagle-1983-P-quarter/ Granted finding one in a high mint state as possible is the key but having a 1983P in near mint state is good enough for some collectors. Iā€™m sorry but for any new collectors getting into the hobby should probably do their research and ask questions before buying a coin thinking itā€™s something itā€™s not. Some people use the term coin collecting as just that. Itā€™s not always I got to have the most shiniest expensive coin in my collectionšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø
  24. I think weā€™ve already got past in acknowledging that itā€™s blistering bubble and I thought I made that clear but for some reason repeating yourself make me think you think otherwise. Iā€™m not saying it isnā€™t Iā€™m just saying it looks like a spike in Lincolnā€™s head regardless what itā€™s called.
